    Gruesome!

A book that shows mans inhumanity to man. Need I say more.

    Great history lesson

Regardless of the books subject matter, once you get past some of the boring beginning, it actually becomes quite interesting as to how things really happened in the olden days. How so many people went to their executions with dignity grace. And how a quick stop at the pub might have saved one individual.

Good but won't leave you hanging.

Dry, factual look at the title-subject. Oddly, the rather detached tone of Cawthorne makes each death seem more grissly and horrific. Good to dip into.

    Great read

Well written, dark humour included and very interesting. Have not fact checked but references seem legitimate

    Dead Dove

This book is exactly what you think it is and tragically also probably what you hope it is. It's a slightly voyeuristic compendium of public executions, some of which are recounted in loving detail, others are an overview of methods used by different cultures and eras. This book is well-researched, engaging, and a quick read if you can stomach the content for long sessions.
