    Sexy and sweet!

Grant Cassidy and Katrina Korsova meet at a photo shoot on Barbados. She doesn't date and he is known for being seen with too many. Can the most opposite couple make a connection? Or will they find themselves in a draw, ahem tie? The supermodel and the quarterback make excellent friends. They quickly connect and find they have a lot in common. Katrina, however, does not want a love connection and tries to rid herself of the hunk who seems to want a hookup. Grant, to his credit is honest with her and says if she wants to be friends - that is fine with him. Over the next couple months, the find themselves in the same city and being friends just comes easy. Katrina is afraid to admit the feelings that are growing for him. Grant is not sure what to do to keep her in his life. She seems to have her track shoes on around him and tries to constantly run from him. Grant and Katrina have something and they finally admit that it is there. Can they get past the pieces that are in the way? Can he understand she is in charge of her siblings and has to be there for them? Grant's family is such a great source of love and support. When they figure out his feelings for her they even try to help. Can you catch a falling supermodel? Is that even a possibility? Katrina and Grant have an emotional ride along with some seriously hot scenes in this story. I have to give the author credit. Just when I think the next book cannot get any hotter....she finds a way to keep the home fires burning. This is book # 9 in the Play by Play series. Sorry, but Anya and Leo stole the story for me.

    > > Judging a Book by it's Cover < < Half-dressed male, leaning against a wall, holding a football. Not the strongest of title fonts, but the author font is strong and clear. There's a hopeful air to the synopsis that pulls the reader in. > > Looking Deeper < < POV ~> Third-person For the past ten years, Katrina has had a successful modeling careering while taking on guardianship of her young brother and sister, Leo and Anya. After her dad abandoned them all and her mom passed away when she was weeks from turning 18, she did not have the time nor desire to date or fall in love. Grant is contacted to do swimwear edition photo shoot with some other athletes for a high profile magazine and gets pair up with Kat. He's awe-struck at first sight. Grant could be pushy and bossy, trying to charm people into giving him his way. It was not as cute as I think it was intended to be. Often, I found myself irritated by his passive-aggressive controlling nature. On the flipside of the coin, as smart and worldly as Kat was and as much responsibility as she's managed to shoulder over the past ten years, her ostrich technique of denying her relationship, denying her feeling and claiming to be oblivious to everything was naive and annoying. Secondary characters mainly consisted of the Cassidy family with a small Riley cameo. Leo and Anya were important pieces in the plot and made things quite enjoyable. The story was well written, flowed smoothly, had strong dialogue and believable cast interaction. Conflicts could have been avoided if they'd opened their eyes, hearts, and minds, had better communication skills, and didn't fight things (or deny / fight them!) as much as they did. In the end, things seemed to have been resolved. Predictability was mild. The conclusion was presented as a HFN work-in-progress, maybe an implied HEA. Overall, it was not terrible, I just was not over-excited over the character traits of these two. . Quarterback Draw

The Play-by-Play series has taken a new direction with shifting its focus to a new family, The Cassidys. They are a sports family where Grant’s father Easton was an NFL quarterback for Green Bay and a legend in the game. Grant and two of his brothers—Flynn and Barrett—are pro football players and his brother Tucker is a pro baseball pitcher. There’s also a younger sister, Mia, who is still in college. Cole Riley makes an appearance because he’s on Grant’s team and we get to see his wife Savannah but that is the extent of the Riley family we see in this book. I certainly miss The Rileys but I am curious about The Cassidy family and their dangerously sexy offspring. What I enjoyed about the book were the secondary characters in the story. I thought Leo and Anya were great characters (Katrina’s brother and sister). I also enjoyed the scenes with Grant’s family and the banter between Grant and his sexy-as-sin brothers. It was hilarious to read! What really bugged me about the book was all the stereotype stuff that both Katrina and Grant were fighting about. Well, not necessarily fighting, but the majority of their first meeting and the beginning of their friendship/courtship they were both defending themselves against the stereotypical roles of the supermodel and the sports jock. It was a little disconcerting but when Katrina’s brother and sister were introduced, the story took on a whole new dynamic and was more enjoyable to read. I thought Katrina and Grant’s relationship developed very fast. I didn’t get a good feel for it because the majority of the time they spent together was in very-detailed sex scenes and the time they spent together in other environments were glossed over, with the exception of the time they spent with Grant’s family. All in all, I enjoyed the book. I’m curious to see how the series will develop and I’m looking forward to reading more about Grant’s brothers. ***I was gifted an eBook copy from the publisher via Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. All conclusions reached are my own***
