    Mediocre

The first two books were amazing. The ending was lackluster. Still worth the read but not what it could have been. It's like the story ran out of gas.

    Kill lots of baddies

I’m not sure what the heck happened after the first book. I think the author tried to replicate the way he built up Vaelin as a tremendous figure in the form of a new brat. He fails miserably… I get that she is damaged, but those are sallow grounds for being bloody annoying. Queue timing with massive war like event which ends with a lot of ‘elite’ baddies getting butchered like turkeys on Thanksgiving. Who saw that coming? No thanks for clipping the start of a promising series with tired clichés in character development and feeble attempts at ‘epicness’

    Typical fantasy book.

The 1st book was by far the best of the trilogy. Books 2 & 3 seemed like they were written in order to meet a publishers deadline. Not terrible, but nothing special.

    Queen of fire

Liked it. Had a hard time stopping once I started. Would have been easier in hardcopy to refer to the name list in the back of the book especially because it had been a while since I read the last books.

Not nearly as good as the first two books

More than a bit disappointed. Real decline from the first two books in the series, which I thought were really good. This time characters make choices that don't seem organic, story threads left dangling, some critical back story was nonsensical, etc. Seemed like it was being finished just to complete a contract. Middle of the book also dragged a bit, which was a big departure from the earlier books, which were strong throughout. By the end, I was just reading to finish the series.
