Recommend it to everyone I know

This story struck a chord with me. It was well-written and you find yourself rooting for the main character. She's flawed but so relatable. Disclaimer: there are chapters that may be difficult to read for some, but they are honest depictions of mental heath and abuse. Think of it as a dramedy.

    Couldn't Put it Down

Such an amazing an relivant novel. In a world where there is not enough black women experience novels it is even rarer to find one about black women and their mental health struggles which makes this novel a must!

    Riveting, disturbing book

This novel depicts the life of a 25 year old black British woman, her struggles with romance and sex in contemporary London. But it also shows the impact of one's childhood (violence, racism) on one's adulthood. The last 100 pages explain the protagonist's actions in the first part. Definitely worth the read.

    Queenie

A hard scrapple story- a Jamaican/British young woman straddling 2 cultures, struggling to know where she fits in. Unfortunately, she kept looking for meaning in sexual encounters- which were many and very graphic.
