    pure entertainment

It's been a few months since I read Reine but reading this made me feel as if I never left. The best part about this book is that it's so deliciously great with the open-mindedness. I don't wanna say for spoilers but just know that there are a lot of things in here that I think some other books don't do for risk of losing readers. Nothing insane, but just things that get taken way too seriously or are still considered out of the norm. Like drag, for example. Most people love it nowadays but a lot are still finicky about a main hero doing it, even if it means it's for work. Small stuff like that. I just really loved the open-mindedness, there's no other way to say it without spilling everything. Reine also has a great writing style. It's fast, it's engaging and it makes you forget you're reading. Cage was hilarious but the things he didn't say or do were also cool and they gave him a slight more depth in the time i got to know him. I liked his chaotic thing going on with his heroine counterpart, i love that this is in the Descentverse, and i enjoyed the other characters. It's an absolute recommend.

Who thought a were-squirrel shifter could be so cool, The world has changed quite a bit since we were last there. But for shifter Shatter Cage he covers up his true identity to pretend to be a phoenix shifter as who want to be known as an embarrassing were-squirrel. But isn his line of business artifact hunter his unique shifter skills are invaluable. Took me a chapter or 2 to get to like this changed and developing world but as always Sara Reine's writting style hooks you in. Can't wait for the next installment.
