  • Rainy Day Sisters

Rainy Day Sisters by Kate Hewitt is a novel any women's fiction reader will enjoy! Told in dual POV's (Juliet and Lucy's), it was easy to feel part of their world in small town England. Juliet and Lucy have nothing in common except that they are half sisters. They are so different, yet they are both struggling in their lives right now. I liked how their relationship started out in Rainy Day Sisters, and I really enjoyed watching it grow, as Juliet and Lucy navigated all sorts of emotions and happenings. I like how different these two women are, and how it is reflected not only in their every day lives, but in the bond that is very slowly, sometimes painfully, forged between them as they get to know one another. There is huge character growth in Rainy Day Sisters, and this affects not only their relationships but their outlook on life. I felt strongly that these two women were good for each other, despite the difficulties they encountered, and I really enjoyed this journey with them. I really felt that I was there with them in their small English Village, and I couldn't wait to see what would happen with them and the others in their lives. I enjoyed the unique secondary characters in this English village, they really helped bring the place to life and made me want to head straight there! The setting of this small village in England seems the perfect place for Lucy and Juliet's story to take place. There are some strong sub plots that flow nicely in with the main plot of Rainy Day Sisters, all of them relevant to Lucy and Juliet. I felt that these strengthened the characters and made the story more dimensional, adding believability to their lives. Rainy Day Sisters was a book that was easy for me to fall into and keep reading. The pace is good, and the writing flows off the pages. I'd recommend Rainy Day Sisters to any women's fiction reader!
