    Review: LSERT 1: Ransom

Ransom by Laramie Briscoe is the first book in her Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team series. This is the next generation awesomeness of the Moonshine Task Force series. So while readers of the the MTF books will get a kick out of the characters involvement in the LSERT series, LSERT is all about the new kids. Ransom is the story of Ransom Thompson and Stella Kepler and is heartfelt, emotional, angsty and wonderful. Ransom has been into Stella for as long as he can remember. She is his best friends older sister and she has never really taken the time to notice him over the years. Not in the way he wants her to. But all that is about to change. What blossoms between them in the heat of a dangerous moment is a result of years of knowing each other and it isn't the first time she's appreciated Ransom, his kindness, his body, and his heart in the past few months, but this will be the first time she decides to act on it. Oh the angst of finally requited love, the danger of dating a police officer, and the issues involved with keeping things secret just to be safe should things go wrong... I loved this book and can't wait to get more of this series and of Laurel Springs! Enjoy!

A book that makes me feel so deeply

There are certain books that come in to my life that remind me I’m just a seething bag of emotions. This was one of those books. A book that makes me feel so deeply and care so much about the story. Because, even having read several of the teaser excerpts for this story I was still the same bawling mess reading those scenes again this time around. There are a lot of big emotions in this book, and it’s possible they feel even bigger because I’ve followed this group of characters from before Stella and Ransom were even born. I think that’s one of the things that makes this book so very special, having the chapters where we get to see what’s happening from the parents’ point of view. I have loved this ‘family’ since Renegade’s book first came into my hands. Now I just need a couple of days… (Weeks…? Months…?) to recover from my story hangover and I’ll be ready for the next book in this series. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.

    All the heart eyes!!

Oh. My. God. I’m so glad that this was my first read of 2019 and I’m honoured to have experienced a new chapter of the Laurel Springs journey. I’m always so cautious with next generation books, the amount of times there’s major plot holes. Especially when there’s pop culture references. But Laramie has flawlessly executed a Moonshine Task Force next gen love story. Ever wonder what would happen if Renegade’s daughter fell in love with Havoc’s son? Be ready for an explosion of chemistry, drama, angst, plot twists and an epic love story. Not to mention, you get to see the MTF family again, see what became of your favourite couples, and Rambo is the sweetest fictional dog ever.

    Fantastic book boyfriend

Laramie Briscoe writes the best book boyfriends. I mean, seriously - Ransom is fantastic. He's all alpha male when he needs to be, and he's all teddy bear when that's required. And he and Stella are so good together. The story is a low-angst, feel-good read for the most part. There is some excitement and danger, but the focus is on Ransom and Stella. This is one of those books that you can't read without smiling and doing a fair bit of swooning. There are a lot of characters from the Moonshine Taskforce, and the author provides some info in the front of the book to give new readers some background. That said, this one does stand alone, and it's easy to figure out the various ties to other characters in the story. All in all, Ransom is a quick, entertaining romance with a sweet and sexy couple and some great secondary characters to look forward to as the series progresses.
