    Fun Read!

I almost have a love/hate relationship with this book. On one hand, it was a fun read that was full of pop culture references, jokes, and just "fun" things! It went by almost too quickly, and I wanted more. Every page had a little something for everyone. On the other hand, the actual story was... meh? That might not be the right word but I found that when I sat down and thought about it, the story itself was kind of lacking. It felt almost too perfect for the protagonist and everything sort of fell in place. Now don't let that dissuade you! It's still a fun book if you enjoy the culture and a fun read! Just don't take it too seriously.

    Loads of fun

4.5 Stars!!! This was so much fun to read!! It was light-hearted, uplifting and, for someone who was a teenager during the 80s, it was an entertaining blast from the past. The story flowed steadily and held my interest throughout, which I don't experience often. The characters were likeable and, for the most part, well developed. The writing was simple and straightforward, letting the story do the work. I was hesitant to read this because the synopsis never really grabbed me, but the popularity of the book was to great to ignore, so I gave it a go, and I'm glad I did!

    Memories of Snow Crash

It was a lot of fun to read this book. I haven't sat down and devoured a story in one sitting in a long time, but after the first thirty minutes I was hooked and HAD to know what would happen. Similarities to Snow Crash, Neuromancer and the animes Sword Art Online and Summer Wars.

    My favourite book

This is an 80's nerd's dream story. It is loaded with gaming and pop culture references from that era. The story is both futuristic and nostalgic. It is one of the only novels that I have read twice and I will read it again for sure.

    Geek love!

Fantastic book for anyone who came of age in the 80s... I was afraid I might not get some of the many, many pop-culture references throughout the book, especially those pertaining to video games, but there was no need to worry. Great, epic "done-in-one" adventure. I think fans of The Hunger Games would love it.
