  • Everything that I didn’t know that I needed.

Reckless Memories by Author Catherine Cowles is book one in the Wrecked Series. It is romantic suspense and can be read as a stand-alone. Isabelle (Bell) is a young girl when we meet her. She lives in a house of high expectations and feels that she follows in the shadows of perfection. This well crafted story begins with her having a crush on and loving her older, off limits best friend. He is one of the only people in life that gets her and understands her perfectly. When tragedy strikes your life and shreds it beyond recognition you have to mend it back together. Bell carefully and methodically stitches her life back together. She does it stitch by stitch and seam by seam creating a new landscape to her life. What happens when one of the reasons you had to recreate yourself returns and stretches the seams, pulls on the stitches to your heart and makes you question your sanity? Ford is that best friend. He is the one that left, never to be seen again until all these years later. After he left, when tragedy struck, and stole so much, Bell was hurt and alone. Now she is just angry at him. When he returns she is spitting mad and doesn’t shy away from showing it! Bell and Ford are constantly drawn together and fighting to ignore the magnetic pull that they have to each other. Through it all they experience and wade through longing, grief, redemption and forgiveness. They work their way through tension, what if’s and what nows. While they are doing this a person in the background is working to draw them apart, to sever the ties that bind and punish them both. The murderous intentions are around every corner, curve and never ending. Author Cowles delivered a captivating story with Reckless Memories that is everything that I didn’t know that I needed. With the scary time we are living in and social distancing in place I have been very sad. This book took me on a journey and vacation to a magical place in an uncertain time. It was the exact escape that I needed. It filled my heart and nurtured my soul. Bravo and thank you.

  • A must read!

Reckless Memories is the first book in the Wrecked series by Catherine Cowles and it’s her best book to date. I’ve been a fan of Ms. Cowles for a long time and love all her book but this one was beyond great. It’s not an easy love story. A story about friendship, heartbreak, lies, trust and letting go of the past. Isabelle (Belle) and Ford’s story started when they were very young. They were always together and best friend. They understood each other. But Ford was Isabelle’s sister’s boyfriend. Until something tragically happened and Isabelle lost two of the persons she loved the most in this world. Belle and Ford’s chemistry was adorable when they were young and hot later when all grown up. Love the storyline, the suspense and the secondary characters that I know there will be in the next upcoming books that I cannot wait to read. I really hope hunter and the Sheriff will get their books too. My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ STARS!

  • Beyond stunning!

I am not sure how Catherine Cowles does it, but she has blown me away. From following her since her debut to this book, the way she has grown as an author is just amazing and I honestly think I will say this every time she releases a new book. This is her best to date. It is so raw with emotions and passion. The concept is beyond heartbreaking. Like I am almost crying, kind of heartbreaking and y’all know that I DO NOT CRY as a rule! But there is just something with Reckless Memories that will hit you hard in the feels and will have you wrapped up in the tragic tale that surrounds both Ford and Bell. Throughout this story, there is the level of mystery surrounding things that happen in this book and I love that layer of suspense that Cowles adds to her books. With this one, I was shocked and in awe of what happened and how it all plays out. I felt it was well thought out and epic in the twists that came. With Ford and Bell, that chemistry. I mean, it is undeniable. It is electrifying. But at the same time heartbreaking. But the way they play off each other. Their banter. Their sizzle. It was beyond brilliant. Overall, this book was devoured in one sitting. Honestly, when a book hits you so hard, it is a struggle to write a review that does it justice. This book has every note I needed to have me completely captivated and honestly, it will be one of my top books of the year so far. It is raw, emotional, heartbreaking, uplifting, spellbinding and just absolutely everything. Cowles is a brilliant writer and I am dying to have more in this series!

  • A connection that will last a lifetime

This book hit me in so many ways. The connection between these two is beyond magical, and not in a fairytale sort of way, just in the way that you can feel their connection and feel the invisible bonds that tie them together. Ford and Isabelle have had a connection through so many years and I adored seeing how it was defined in the beginning. The words in this book pull you in and you can't help but become immersed in this story of loss and love. How this story unfolds, how the all the characters are intricately wound within in each other keeps you engaged and makes you feel like you are there, right there, with them. This story is so hard to do a review on because it is so good, it took my breath away and I am still trying to find my words. One other portion that I love regarding the setting of this book is it is set around the islands that I currently live on. How Catherine Cowles describes everything is so vivid and accurate, it only added on to how involved I felt with this book. This is her absolute best writing to date. (less)

  • 5 Heart Gripping Stars

5 Heart Gripping Stars One of the quickest books I have read because I could not put it down. Catherine Cowles did an amazing job with book 1 in her Wrecked series not that I am surprised at all. She gets better with every book. This book put me through the emotional wringer with all the guilt Bell had for having crush on her best friend ‘Ford’ who also happens to be her sister’s boyfriend. There was a friends to lovers with a little taboo feel to it. There were so many hurtful situations to deal with, with family and friends. Both Bell and Ford were hurting and living with so much guilt and anger. Get ready for a lot of surprises and an emotional ride that won’t let you go even after the book is over you are still feeling it in your heart.
