    Another great read

Red Carpet First of all, I received a free copy from the author in exchange for an honest review. I bought Refiner’s Fire after reading Raw Deal, without reading this 2nd book of the trilogy, thinking I could skip to the end; if you are thinking of doing that – don’t. Although I enjoyed the book and could guess at a lot of what happened in Red Carpet, I found myself wanting to fill in the details so I went back and read it and I was not disappointed. True to Mrs Benson’s style, you get a hint of the evil that men (and women) dabble in but not enough to give you nightmares – just enough to know it’s there but God is far more powerful and is available to anyone who will try Him. We follow Lexi and her friends and families on their different paths; Lexi rising to fame and fortune and seeing what it really entails, fighting her own battles, learning her own lessons about family – love and ties, what it means to be an adult, finding courage and finally finding the greatest treasure. I enjoyed this book except that it ended abruptly – I didn’t even realised it had ended until I saw the discussion questions, then I went back and re-read the last bit. I can only imagine the writer didn’t want us sold on one fairy tale when she had a better one in the offing at the end of book 3 (which is a must read by the way). - A. Oke
