A great conclusion to the trilogy.

I enjoyed this conclusion to the Sins of Our Ancestors trilogy. This is a post-apocalyptic with teen romance thrown in, so if you like that sort of thing you will probably like this series. There were a few little things that niggled at me, like the over protective nature of the love interest, but he never went so far with it that he didn't respect Ruby's wishes so I could over look that. In general I liked him. There were some repetitive things that happened in the series as a whole. There is a lot of traveling from place to place, and I kind of felt like it got a little old after a while. And Ruby and her friends tended to get captured a lot, which I thought happened a little too often. Mostly though I liked this book and the series overall was good, and I liked that not everything was wrapped up too neatly in the end. There were a couple of deaths that made me sad but needed to happen to balance things out. Something I liked about this series is the way the author describes the scientific research for creating the virus and finding the cure. I'll admit I am not a scientist and never did that well in science in school, but the way it was written made it feel somewhat plausible to me instead of just coming out of nowhere. This series was a quick, fun read and I'm looking forward to reading more from this author.

How does Ruby make good the Sins of Her Ancestors

Another Bridget Baker blockbuster tale of what happens next from the previous 2 books in this series. This fast paced book 3 expands the quest by Ruby to be a true and just ruler even though she wants to be just another person in the world. She does not like the title Your Royal Highnes head of the WPN (World Peace Now) organisation. She wants and tells people that she is not special and to treat her like an ordinary being, but they do not perceive her like this. For what she is trying to achieve, the ordinary subjects believe she is an extraordinary ruler and is far from just an ordinary person like they are, as she claims to be. Her sadness at the death of her biological father, David Solomon, is not real, however she does not want everybody to learn the truth about their relationship. It makes a very complicated issue out of their family and one she prefers to keep close to home. She witnesses an event with her father that she feels releases her from his control, however, many in the world almost worshipped him and so Ruby has to be aware that she does not alienate the general population who feel very deeply about him being a wonderful ruler. Ruby is faced with becoming the new queen of WPN and so has to act cautiously in her actions in the ensuing hunger games she knows will evolve in the near future. Her father, the late great monarch had made plans to deal with hundreds and thousands of Marked people and Ruby was horrified to learn this and was determinded to ensure those plans were negated in the best possible manner, without the prospect of a blood bath developing as it could do if she moved in the wrong direction. Her future actions required careful management and for her to deal with the future required her to learn much of life and required a great character development of her. Ruby has a small number of friends close to her and they are determined to protect and see she remains safe as her new position in the WPN is to be confirmed. However, there is several powerful rulers from other areas determined to see their plans previously put in place with David Solomon be carried out. These other area leaders put Ruby on notice in the hope she will fail, however, they are thwarted by Ruby and her friends and so she has another front to be aware of in the future. A number of them travel with Ruby to another city to perform a certain procedure that is hopeful of saving many thousands of lives of the Marked, this task in made even more difficult by a close relative of one in her party. She has many tasks to face to hopefully achieve her promises and with negative actions from some close to her group they cannot afford to miss a beat. In spite of the forces working against Ruby and her team they stay focused on their main objective, to save the lives of many thousands of the Marked Ones. Time and procedure are critical so they must be strict and remain focused if they are to achieve what Ruby has set as their goal. The Marked Ones leader is no stranger to Rubys team, however, they are determined to ensure the course of action promised by her be kept and have initiated an unsavoury pathway to try to make sure she and her team achieve this. Many many thousands of lives depend on this ensuring that promises made are met and the team are focused on meeting their assurances to save lives. There is many a sadness in Rubys days and one in particular is that she is informed by the Marked leader that a very best friend has been executed by him, because Ruby did not respond to demands he made of her in the time stipulated. He wanted her to realize that he had had enough of promises made but never kept and this impacted on the many thousands of the Marked Ones. The fact that all the previous actions had been caused by the lack of action and caring from the Ancestors and not Ruby and her team, did not still his cruel action. The timeline he set was maybe unreasonable, but because of the past he did not care, Ruby was to feel the full force of his requirements regardless. What could she and her team do to placate this seeming monster other than gather them around her and make a positive plan. Many obstacles kept arising at them but with determination they faced them and worked their way through the many issues that kept arising. Amongst all the agony Ruby does receive some wonderful news and this spurs her on to maybe rethink some thoughts of illwill she had against a member of the Marked community. This story keeps on expanding into new ventures that as a reader I absolutely loved and am really looking forward to reading the next chapter or book 4, where does this one take us?? I could expand further on this book 3 but believe you will enjoy it more by reading it yourself and discovering the many hidden stories that the writer Bridget B keeps bringing forth so cleverly, it is not easy to guess her next move which makes the reading so enjoyable.
