    90% rape, 10% dragons

Good use of female characters, nice premise, and nice world. However every waking moment of the female characters's lives are spent worrying about, living through, or being threatened by rape. I am at least glad that said rape doesn't merely serve as a motivation for male characters, but this much obsession over it without a single positive expression of sexual agency or romance leaps the bounds of "gritty realism" and lands in the realm of lurid, triggering, and obsessive. I did enjoy the read, but I won't be reading the sequels.

Good but not what I thought!

I liked the book up until the demons came on the scene, and then it just seemed over the top. The characters Daniel had as villains would have been enough to carry the books through as they were without adding demons. With that said, the other characters are very like able and believable and I might stick with the trilogy just to see what happens to them. Very well written, although I got confused as to when some of the chapters were taking place compared to the others.

    Requiems Song by Daniel Arenson

Requiems song is a gripping adventure that I couldn't put down. I can't wait to read the next book.

    Requiem song

I found the brutality truly sadistic and the demons more than repulsive. I did not think the story was better for these descriptions as the hero's of the story are very likable and I rooted for them anyway. If the opposing forces in Requiem were toned down, I would read more of the adventure.
