    On the edge!

So far this is the book that really had me on the edge, and that's saying something. The first two books were not a walk in the park. I'm actually really glad the author is taking her time telling Edward and Celia's story. These characters are so complex. We need to see their story fleshed out and not rushed. Both Edward and Celia have a long journey to go from where they were when they first met to what I'm hoping to be their happily ever after. That takes time and we need to see their growth taken seriously which I believe the author has accomplished to this point. I gotta admit, because of how much we are seeing in their journey, I think this couple may have Hudson and Alayna beat with the level of writing that this author is putting into their story. I can't believe I'm saying that. Trust me, I never thought I would say that. I love Hudson and Alayna. I still do, I just can't get over how much I'm impressed with how fleshed out these characters are. I feel like I'm right there with them as they grow and become a newer version of themselves. This last and final book to come will have a lot riding on it. There is just so much more that needs to happen and I'm nervous with how Edward and Celia will get there. This series is not an easy series to read. This isn't a feel good story. Both Edward and Celia have things in their past that have shaped them to be the enemy in so many peoples eyes. Their past is not pretty and Celia's in particular was pretty disturbing. It was very hard to read certain parts of this book and in book 2 when we learn what happened to her. I want them both to finally be free of all that have weighed them down and I want to see them happy. Yes, that manipulative, conniving woman in the Fixed series is the same woman I want to see have some happiness in her life.

    Love this series!

This story just gets more and more interesting. The reader gets to dive more and more into the psyche of both Celia and Edward. The way that Ms. Paige writes brings the reader into their world is amazing and feels so genuine.  The atrocities and damage that has been done to Celia, the need for vengeance and revenge for Edward burn up the pages and I couldn't put it down until the end. This brings Celia's past to the forefront, I continue to empathize with her and how she is evolving into a more relatable character.  I continued to understand why she was so cold and calculating and how Edward had to break her down to help her build herself back up again.  I also admired how even though all that she still has steel in her spine and isn't afraid to fight back for what she truly believes in. Edward continues to be a man you almost hate to love, but he continues to surprise me and I am seeing some real redeemable qualities to him.  He truly wants Celia to come around to his way of thinking concerning his need for revenge. This third book was amazing and the ending!!! Oh my me, I cannot wait until May!

    Revenge is best served cold...

… Or so the saying goes. But, in Edward and Celia’s story, cold is the last thing they are feeling. Edward had wanted revenge on those who have wronged him in the past, Celia had once been part of that revenge… against her father. Now, Edward knows the truth, the whole horrible truth and his sights are set elsewhere, even more so when he unveils the twisted, rotting and ugly ties that haunt Celia’s past, and her nightmares. They converge in one man. A man who is the vilest of them all. A grubby, depraved and dangerous man. A man who thinks he’s above the law. Edward has a plan, it’s a long-playing one and during this time, we get to see them grow as a couple, in strength and compatibility. Their attraction and chemistry never waivers. Edward loves hard and completely. Celia loves to get lost inside his dominance. It’s been said before and I’ll say it again. Celia was an easy character to hate in the ‘Fixed’ series. But, here in her own ‘Slay’ series, she truly gets to shine. To be that person she was all along hidden in plain sight. There’s goodness inside her that Edward saw, that he was compelled by. He’s got his ‘bird’ now and he’s not letting her go. Revenge is the grittiest, hardest, most luridly descriptive story so far in this Slay universe. There are bits in here that are difficult to read. Eye-opening moments-for me at least. But, that’s not to say the story isn’t good or well written, because it so is. There’s stuff in here that I cringe thinking of how Ms. Paige came about the information. It’s dark and brutal, but if you can push through it, you’ll have the most heart wrenching, love confirming, dare I say beautiful and poignant story. It will pull you so far out of your comfort zone, you’ll be dizzy for days. Edward finally let loose some of his past but, it’s Celia’s that is front and center of this book. But, when the chips are down, Edward is the one who carries the day. He may be a devil in disguise at times, he may be hot, sexy as sin and have the sexual appetite of a Titan, but this man?? OH EM GEEEE!!!… this man!! He brought me to my knees, and HE made me cry. Not only for what he did for Celia but how he became her crusader. In EVERY sense. This is part three of a four-part series, if you haven’t read either Rivalry or Ruin then stop now. You must read them first or you will be totally lost, and missing out on two fabulous stories. This one is going to stay with me for a long time to come. Revenge might be best served cold, but when it’s in the culprit’s face, up close and personal, it’s soooo much better. Just ask Edward Fasbender.

    Captivating

I want to first say please don’t pick this book up without reading the first two in the series because this is a continuation of those stories. Edward Fasbender and Celia Werner know how to play the game, they know how to manipulate people to get what they want and it’s not always pretty. Problem is when you play games you sometimes end up playing the person you don’t expect to.... This series has captivated me, I needed to know the background of Celia and Edward I needed to know why they play the games that often hurt people who get in their way and once again book 3 has given me another insight into Edward and Celia and in this book we see their relationship start to change. We see their relationship and chemistry become more intense as they move into a Dom/sub situation and truth be told this is exactly what Celia and Edward need to show they can both be vulnerable and they are both capable of love with the right person. Will this mean this couple have found their HEA I’m sure there will be more twists and turns in the next book because this love has been anything but straight forward. An emotional roller coaster that kept me on the edge of my seat and what can I say about that massive cliffhanger apart from I can’t wait for the next instalment of the Slay Series.

    This book slayed me!

This book slayed me! I thought I loved books 1 & 2 in the brilliant quartet, but they do not compare to Revenge! Just like my reviews for books 1 & 2, I’m starting this review the exact same: this book is NOT a standalone. You HAVE to read the first two books in order to understand the entire story line. Edward and Celia. Goodness…where do I even begin at this point? The trouble with reviewing this book is that everything I can potentially say would be a spoiler, especially since this book is right in the heart of the over-all story. If I tell you what’s happened up until this point, that’s a spoiler. If I tell you where this book ends, and what I predict could happen next, that’s a spoiler. See the dilemma? But, I think it’s safe for me to express my feelings towards the characters. For those who have met Celia in The Fixed Trilogy, her likeability factor was an all-time low. Like zero, on a scale of 100. Well, maybe more like -50. But from that low point up until now, my understanding for what she’s endured and sacrificed in her life has only grown more compassionate, where I grieved right along with her as the story progressed. I like her now. I never thought in a million years I would ever say that, but I do. I really like Celia now. And Edward…..gah, my views on him went up and down right along with Celia’s. I wanted to initially like him. But then I wanted to hate him (i.e. book 2), but then I fell for him like most everyone who has read this book. He’s the one who’s supposed to slay the dragon….but, after reading Revenge, we begin to wonder who the real dragon is. And my lips are sealed. Like book 1, this book also ends on a cliffhanger. But it completely sets up for what’s next to come in the final Slay novel. Each book in this quartet has definitely lived up to its name, so I’m beyond excited to find out what Rising will bring us!
