  • Fantastic!

Holy crap what a book! I have read book one and two of this series and loved them, so I was excited for this one! I have the third one that I now have to go back and read! Loved Valentin! I love this author’s dark romance reads. Her style of writing is gritty, raw, and at times makes you grip your Kindle so hard you think it will crack. What a ride! This is a tale of two slaves that have a forbidden love! A warrior champion and a concubine to their Master, who is a sadistic, twisted man. The story is like a modern-day Spartacus of the underground fighting world of the Bratva or Georgian/Russian mafia. The slaves were stolen from their homes or orphanages as children and raised in this Master’s sick world with its own caste system. This story has triggers for abuse and sexual assault, as the slaves were gravely mistreated. The tender love story that develops throughout the chaos of their lives is amazing. They are fighting for their lives, their love for each other and their freedom. Freedom that they have never known. The story also includes characters from the previous books and their involvement in the lives and future of 901 and 152. The ending is amazing and it is wrapped up so well, it wasn’t rushed and I felt like the story was truly complete. I am hoping that there will be a spin-off series from this, as the ending made me think it was a possibility! I can only hope! If you love dark romance, then give this book and this series a try!

  • Amazing ending, but very sad this series is ending

My mind is blown from this book, I have a major book hangover... This was a bite your nails, edge of your seat, kleenex box next to you book. Riot is the 4th book in the Scarred Sours series and is the final book. I wish this series wasn't coming to an end because I loved it, but what a way to go... This book tied all the loose ends up in a near little package so to speak. Riot is best read in order after the first three books. If you want updates on your favorite characters from the previous three books, don't worry you will get them!!!! 901/Ilya is the Blood Pit champion, 152/Inessa is the High Mona for the Master and is Valentin's sister. 901 won't obey, has no weaknesses and Master Arziani is determined to find one, when he catches 901 staring at 152. To break 901 he sends him 152. The storyline flowed well and the book really put you right there in the story. I struggled to put the book down, and it was only because I had no choice and it was always in the middle of a major event. I shirked all my responsibilities because I couldn't put this book down. The characters felt real, and the heartbreak and devastation in the story was palpable. I loved the first three books, and thought it would be really hard to top them, but this one rivaled if not topped them. I loved seeing the updates on all the other couples, and the glimpse into life after. Definite 5 star read for me hands down!!! Received ARC for a fair and honest review

Omg I loved it. I have read all of her books and loved them all. I loved how she put all the characters back in this book and put them all to rest.

  • The Petal and The Pit Bull

I have been religiously following Tillie's Scarred Souls series and have fallen for each broken, scarred hero she has introduced to us. From the beginning when we met Luka (Raze) and Kisa, Tillie has captured me with the dark, often brutal lives each of these fighters have been forced to live. And as we have progressed through the series, each book is connected by a character who was important to the Hero in that book. I won't go into detail on who they are, since you really need to read them all and discover for yourselves. 152 is a character we find out about in book 3, Ravage. When I read about 152 in that book, I couldn't wait to read Riot to find out what her fate was going to be. Throughout this whole series there has been an underlying storyline of a Master who controls the Georgian Blood Pits, the mother entity that all of the other fighting rings and Gulags were born from. The monster who controls the Blood Pit, Master Arziani, is the most heinous and psychotic of men, thinking himself more powerful than God. And 152 has captured his eye. He makes her his High Mona. 901 is the Pit Bull of the Blood Ring, the undefeated champion for Master Arziani. But he isn't submissive to the Master, defying his orders at every turn. I loved him instantly, seeing a strength in him that wasn't just physical, but mental as well, holding onto to his free will in any little way he could. When 152 is presented to 901 as a prize, there is an instant connection between them even though 901 doesn't want there to be. He has always thought the Mona's made the fighters weak because they lose focus. But as 901 gets to know 152, he realizes that she actually makes him stronger. But Master uses her as a weapon against 901 and what ensues is an angst filled, turbulent ride that had me on the edge of my seat. More times than I can count, I felt like these two people were in a no win situation. The characters from the previous three installments play a major role in this story and it was so wonderful visiting with them again, even though most of the time I was clutching at my heart and praying that nothing bad would happen to any of them. I absolutely love the way Tillie wrapped up this book, and at the same time updated us on each of the couples and where they are in their lives now. Truly, heart melting ending to this book! I have loved each and every story, I cannot honestly say that I loved one over the others because they are all special in their own ways. Bravo, Tillie, on another outstanding story! *ARC received via the NetGalley team at St. Martin's Press

  • Dark Gritty Romance

Riot by Tillie Cole Scarred Souls #4 In a place where a person is just a number and is expected to do as they are told without question two people manage to defy the odds, live, love and survive. These two people are Inessa - #152 and Ilya - #901. Both were taken from childhood and trained to become what Master Arziani and his sister determined their future would be. Inessa was to be a whore and Ilya became “Pit Bull” the to-the-death-fighter dominating the Blood Pit. Both managed to survive by focusing, suppressing much and getting on with the life they were forced into. When this story begins Master is trying to break #901 and he has brought #152 in to be his Mona (personal sex slave). With a twisted mind and no limits to his machinations, predations and predilections Master is definitely someone you don’t want to be on the wrong side of. While #’s 901 and 152 are suffering there are three men working to find and free Inessa. One is her brother, Valentin - # 194, who promised he would return for her. With Luka (818) and Zaal (221) a plan is devised to infiltrate, overthrow and put an end to Master and his games. A bloody bloody plan that spills quite a bit of blood! I loved the strength of the characters – all of them – throughout this series. In this book we have a couple enduring but never giving up. They find strength in themselves, in anger, in revenge, in helping those around them – wherever they can. We find men who become closer than brothers who understand one another as no one else can. We find women that love men who have done unspeakable things but can see their core of gold. In this book there were also three other characters that made an impact: Maya (000) - young, scarred, serving others; #140 – a gladiator that loved and lost and fought and dreamed of revenge; and #667 – another pit fighter who finally had enough. I am thankful to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC of this book. This is my honest review. 4.5 Stars
