Rivalry was awesome. It's a marriage of convenience of sorts and enemies to lovers vibe. The main characters, Celia and Edward are devious, manipulative, enigmatic and I loved them. I know I shouldn't but I do and cannot wait for more of their story especially after the way it ended. I highly recommend this compelling tale.

    Slay me now!!

WHOA!!! HOLY SMOKES. GET READY TO HAVE YOUR EXPECTATIONS BLOWN OUT OF THE WATER. Rivalry (Slay Trilogy #1) really lived up to its name. I totally slayed me. Anyone who is a fan of Laurelin Paige, must surely have read the ‘Fixed’ series of books. We all know about Lainey and Hudson. We also know who Celia is. Or we thought we did. Here is her own book we find a totally different woman. Yes, she owns up to her mistakes. She takes responsibility for them- at least in her own head. She’s strong and determined. She’s her own woman. But, nothing… not even Hudson Pierce has prepared her for all that is Edward Fassbender. My word. This man?? He’s incredibly hot and ruggedly sexy, but he’s hard, callous… brutal. Celia is drawn to him like an unwilling moth to a scorching flame. He plans to bend her to his will, but not in the way she expects… or comes to want. To desire. To lust after. Didn’t think you’d ever feel sorry for Celia. Or want to bash her protagonist over the head? To kick and scream at the very fabric of what’s become of her??? THINK AGAIN!!! OH MY GOD! Truly. THINK AGAIN!

    Which Devil will win?

If you've read the Fixed trilogy by the fabulous Laurelin Paige, then you will remember what sick, twisted creature Celia Warner is. I'll be the first to admit that I wasn't sure I wanted her story in Slayed, she was not a good person, and I didn't care what her outcome/story was. Ms. Paige has changed my mind with her twisted storyline though. I'm still not sure who to root for, but I know I am enamored by Celia and Edward. I can't tell who will win, just that they are both playing a dangerous game, and they've met their match. I'm happy that Ms. Paige didn't completely turn around who Celia is deep down, she just found a worthy opponent. I'm excited to see where this fascinating story will go, and I'm sure to enjoy the rollercoaster of a ride to get to the end!

    Unconventional Romance

Book one in the Slay Quartet, Rivalry introduces us to Celia Werner interior designer and daughter to a media newspaper mongrel. Tired or going through the motions she is curious when Edward Fasbender presents her with a proposal that would change her life. But will what Edward is offering be enough? And what would it mean for her future if she is daring enough to accept? How can she convince Edward that she needs more than he is offering, and that he is exactly what she needs? Rivalry ends in a cliff hanger to be continued in book two Rivalry. EXPERT "That's very funny," he said. "A clever way to try to get what you want. Someone ought to do something about your stubborn relentlessness." "Maybe that someone should be you." Again, his gaze travelled down to the tips of my breasts, which had tighten into hard nubs. "I don't respond well to being challenged, Celia," he said firmly, event though his eyes said differently. If I could have breathed fire, I would have. "Forgive me for not having yet had a change to read the Edward Fasbender handbook," I growled. "Have you read mine yet? If you had, you'd know that I like sex." I enunciated the last words to drive home the point.
