The Autobiography of GM's Mary Barra

This autobiography illustrates the rise of Mary Barra through the ranks of GM from her humble roots of working as a plant employee in her early days to eventually becoming the first female CEO of an automotive conglomerate in General Motors. It also illustrates the career and lifetime journey of Mary Barra at GM, being in charge of different portfolios and working under different previous CEOs that ultimately shape her experience in handling the aftermath of the company's exit from the bailout by the US Government and the company's response in the faulty ignition switch debacle. Mary Barra is an exemplary example that if one is willing to work hard and be focused on meritocracy, one will be able to climb up the corporate ladder regardless of race or gender.
