The wrong author to continue Ludlum's legacy

It's not often I stop reading a book before finishing it, even if I don't necessarily like it as I read...but with this book I didn't even get to 20% read before quitting. I have always been a fan of the Bourne story, but with the passing of it's creator, the torch has been dropped...miserably. Why Lustbader was chosen to continue the adventures of Jason Bourne is beyond me. He has none of Ludlum's talents to weave the adventures of a super spy which has launched such successful movies. I read a Lustbader book several years ago...and hated it. He seemed obsessed with adding totally unnecessary sexual encounters...often violent ones...into his storyline. Not only that, his character interactions and dialogues seemed amateurish. I hadn't read anything he authored since...until now. Sadly, his writing style hasn't matured or changed at all. I'm not a prude..I can enjoy some mild eroticism in a book (or movie) as long as it can add relevance to the story line. Lustbader seems intent on putting "Lust" into every one of his books, obviously believing every reader enjoys his perverted ideas of how sex enhances a story. Gratuitous and violent sexual references in no way make a Jason Bourne adventure better than the way Ludlum wrote them. Besides that, Jason Bourne's character just didn't feel like...well... Jason Bourne! I wish Lustbader would remove Ludlum's name from the covers...it insults his memory and legacy.

    No Climax

Just like the last several books in this series, I found myself confused as to how this novel could have so much buildup of plot, with twists and turns, only to fall short once again. I'm sure Lustbader is only writing these for the paychecks now, as they've been terrible for years.

    The Jason Enigma

The very best book in the Jason Bourne series. Leaves you wondering how much of the storie's twists may be true. Even if a small portion is...then it is scary.
