  • Rolling Thunder

Authentic descriptions of US military in and around Vietnam in the 60s. The air war scenes are believable and historically accurate. Characters are well developed and sympathetic. I'm going on to Book 2 of the series immediately and highly recommend this book to my friends and fellow veterans who served during those memorable days

Wow! A tale I didn't think that I would like ended up to be exciting, sad, nostalgic as well as a damn good story about why this war that never should have started was mishandled and why soldiers to this day say that they were not allowed to win the war--they weren't. Makes me mad about the war and sad about the troops all over again. Good job, Mr Berent

Told in an authoritative, knowledgeable and detailed fashion. Unmistakably written by someone who knows and feels the subject.

  • Not what I expected

When I started to read this book, I thought it was going to be a dry slog just to get through it. It didn't take many pages to change my mind, though! The only real criticism I have is Mark's repeated use of explanation for acronyms. There is a glossary and once they have been explained, that should be explanation enough. All in all, a damn good -and accurate - story of the frustration of fighting a war subject to remote control.

Knowing the history of Vietnam and how big an ass LBJ was from the assassination on, it makes my BP go up thinking of the Wall and the wasted lives
