    Rose Madder

Great reading, found the painting bizarre but within the confines of SK's writing skills and story telling. Thought the ending a calming exit to the story.

    A well told story

A well told story but a lot of emotional repetition. No doubt this is a book devoted to women, and particularly to women who have/are suffering from physical and emotional abuse. But for men not into this and actually quite angry about this abuse, you'll find your fingers flipping pages when the same emotional stories/reactions are documented again and again. Women will presumably know that we will not get this but bear with us knowing that we are on your side on this issue -we just don't process the same way. King's gift for pace, surprises and action are well told as always. Character development is his strongest suit and it works again but in a much more limited way - this is, after all, a 'biography'. Worth the read regardless of gender.
