a fantastical world in the reality of today

*ARC received in exchange for an honest review* Where do I begin? I have never read a book quite like this. Heather Lyons has mixed reality & fairy tale, bringing them into modern times. It was a bit of a challenge to really understand the time period and what the set up was when I first started reading so I am going to explain that a little bit to you so that you know before you start and you don’t have to over think trying to figure it all out like I did. Or maybe I am the only one that didn’t figure this out right away. Ok, so think forbidden romance, wanting what one is told they cannot have. It's a story that has been told many times, but not like this. The year is 2015 and the world that Elsa and Christian live in is the world that we know today. Only for them, they still have the ancient ties of being Princess and Duke. They are “married” to their countries and all of their choice, willing or not, are to be made with the best interest of their country as a priority. They live in a secret world of arranged marriages and inherited responsibilities. Their lives are chosen for them. This is the story of Romeo and Juliet {forbidden love}, mixed with Aladdin {you must marry a prince} and topped with the year 2015 {modern technology}. This is one of the most unique and intriguing book I have read this year, along side The Hidden Library & The Forgotten Mountain {which are also by Heather Lyons if you are unaware and a series you MUST read if you haven’t}, really Heather Lyons has just brought a whole lot of unique and intriguing elements to my reading this year and I love her for it. The Royal Marriage Market will bring out all the feels. The forbidden romance, the secret meetings, the sweet words and the hopeful longing. It all comes together in a fantastical world taking place in the reality of today.

To believe or not to believe that is the question.

To believe or not to believe that is the question. I am not very familiar with Heather Lyons as an author. What I do know is that from the moment I came across this story I knew I wanted to read it. Ms. Lyons has a vivid imagination and a unique voice. If I can tell that from one story, what have I been missing out on in the past. Elsa longs for the freedom to make her own choices. Christian is charming, arrogant and in the same situation as Elsa. The burden of birth and responsibility to their people heavily weighs or their minds. Royal Marriage Market is a story about having the strength to follow dreams when the odds are stacked against you.
