Giggles, emotion, and depth- this had it all

This was my first sampling of Emma Chase books, and wow did it ever hook me as a fan. Royally Matched is the second book in the Royally series, but can be read as a standalone without issue. The story picks up with Henry, the brother of the hero featured in the first book. His brother’s abdication of the throne for a love interest left Henry as the heir. The plot revolves around Henry trying to have one last hurrah in the form of filming a reality TV show- a la Bachelor- as he tries to prepare himself to assume the responsibility of his station in life. The book is told in alternating first person point of view. It has a casual but descriptive tone, and flows effortlessly. The quick pacing provides concise details but never hovered over a scene. This tempo works perfectly with the quick-witted hero and heroine, highlighting their banter and humor and making the book ridiculously addictive. The characters are both incredibly personable. They each have that immediate likability factor. Henry is brazen and fun, but it’s obvious he cares deeply for his family. Sarah is a librarian who loves the romance classics. She’s shy, but intelligent and determined. Like Henry, she’s committed to her family and friends. As the book progresses, the characters reveal more of themselves and their histories, adding more layers to their personalities and making them even better. I am honestly surprised at how much depth there is to each character in such a light-hearted, fun read. One of the reasons I tend to gravitate to the emotion churning, heartstring tugging books is because I want that depth. Here, I got the best of both worlds: a fun, airy quality, but a lot of emotion and character development as well. The romance between Henry and Sarah is a slow burner. Their friendship turns to more, almost like a courtship. It is sweet and swoon worthy, and such a deviation to the many contemporary romances initially fueled by lust. I love that the time gives the reader a chance to see the bond and chemistry grow between the two. The slower build also made Sarah’s inexperience feel honest. Though Sarah is eager and wants to be with Henry, the author always conveys that she’s inexperienced. This is probably one of the best virgin romances I’ve ever read. The virgin aspect never weighs down the storyline, but it isn’t swept under the rug to reveal a hidden sex fiend either. As with most of the aspects of the book, the conflicts in Royally Matched are fairly straight forward and faced head on by one or both characters. It’s not riddled with misunderstandings or deception, and when there is a lapse in communication, it isn’t needlessly drug out. All these factors combine to make this such a wonderfully balanced read. I’m not left wanting for anything. There is chemistry, heat, humor, and depth to the plot and characters. Followed up with an epilogue that is the perfect cherry on top, especially Henry's point of view, I couldn’t ask for a better introduction to an author. *Reviewed for Alpha Book Club*

    Royally Matched

Better storytelling than Royally Screwed. Actually had substance to the story instead of just graphic sex. Author still goes overboard with pornograhic details of sex scenes that is truly not needed.

    Funny and sexy romance!

Loved, loved, loved Royally Matched! Prince Henry John Edgar Thomas Pembrook, the playboy prince of Wessco, is now the next in line to the throne. He never expected to have such responsability land on him and he isn't handling that responsability well. Not only that, but he sucks in politics and the Queen is pressuring him to find a suitable wife. To help him, the Queen decides to send him away to give him space and time to adapt to his new reality. So now Henry is alone with the servants and his security team in a huge castle. And what does he decide to do? Host Matched: Royal Edition, a reality TV dating game show! Sarah Mirabelle Zinnia Von Titebottum will do anything to escape speaking to an audience. So, she agrees to supervise her sister, Penny, when she decides she wants to be a contestant on Matched: Royal Edition. But what Henry and Sarah didn't expect was meeting each other. I loved Royally Matched! This funny, emotional and sexy story hooked me from the first page. I loved the banter between Henry and Sarah and the way their relationship blossomed. And Sarah's name? Hilarious! Prince Henry is a funny and sexy man, with a dirty mouth. But deep down he's also very sweet and kind. He never expected he could become the King of Wessco and now he is a little lost. He's struggling but he also wants what's best for his country. I loved how sweet and patient he was with Sarah. Sarah is a sweet and shy woman, but also very funny. She loves her family, her friends, books, and her job. She's afraid of falling for Henry because she believes he will end up breaking her heart. Emma Chase did a terrific job with Royally Matched! The story is amazing and captivating and the characters seem so real that it's very easy to connect with them. If you love a funny and sexy romance, with the right amount of emotion, Royally Matched is the book for you!

    Sweet and Funny! Loved it!

Royally Matched by Emma Chase (Audio Edition) Narrated by Shane East and Andi Arndt Series: Royally #2 5 Stars - What a great read! I loved Sarah, she was quiet, strong, and shy (until she’s comfortable with you.) The complete opposite of Henry. He is the ultimate irresponsible playboy and I loved watching him realize his love for Sarah. The premise of the book being a reality TV show was perfect for Henry character. All the attention and drama that goes with it, really allowed us to watch him mature. There were some perfect sweet moments, and laugh out loud dialogue, which of course I LOVE. Both narrators did a fantastic job on this book! I am looking forward to the third in the series.
