    Caribbean multicultural romance

This was a passionate multicultural romance that was so tastefully done. Many authors turn their non-white characters seem uneducated and classless. That was not the case here. Cara is beautiful, intelligent and passionate about preserving Villa Sucre in its original state. Mick also has a claim to Villa Sucre through his former Marine teammate Will whose grandmother left the estate to both Will and The Historical Society Cara works for. Mick and Will want to turn the plantation on Miralinda into an executive training facility where they put executives through some of the training Mick and Will went through in the Navy for teambuilding. Mick is desperate to make Villa Sucre into his future career after being forcibly retired from the Navy after an accident resulted in a metal plate being put in his leg. He doesn’t know what else to do. He doesn’t want to do anything else. Cara, on the other hand, has wanted to protect Villa Sucre her entire life. At first, their relationship is very confrontational but after a hurricane roars through and Mick is concerned for her safety, they decide to at least hear each other out. There were so many things I liked about this story. The little details about caring for Cara’s hair to keep it from getting frizzy. The way Cara suspects that Mick’s leg isn’t as badly injured as he thinks. The way Mick corners Cara but still leaves her room to escape if she wants to because he realizes how intimidating he can be. The way they learn to work together for what they really want and not just what other people tell them to want. I could picture the beautiful Caribbean sea and beaches, the sun, the heat, and sugar plantations. It was a great fun and passionate read. As usual, Zoe York does not disappoint.

    Fantastic

Sizzling hot and filled with passion, compromise and hope, this is a fantastic read. Forced into retirement due to an injury ex SEAL Mick Frasier shows up at his friends recently inherited island estate ready to get to work starting up their new enterprise beginning with renovations of the Villa Sucre estate. What he finds upon his arrival shocks him. Someone has already begun renovating the old place. A very luscious, beautiful someone at that. Cara Levasseur has her entire career riding on the restoration of Villa Sucre. Working on behalf of the islands historical society who recently inherited the property, she's determined to bring the place back to it's former glory. So when the crazy hot sexy ex SEAL shows up claiming the property actually belongs to his buddy she digs her heals in a refuses to give up her claim. While all the legalities are worked out, these two really get to know each other and the spark of desire can't be contained. Is there anyway to walk away from this without getting burned??? This is an excellent read and one I highly recommend to everyone.

Loved the setting and the couple!

There are lots of Navy SEALs books out there, but what makes this one and others written by Zoe York stand out is her ability to breathe life into her characters and make them the kind of people you wish were your friends. They are charismatic, funny, sometimes flawed, but always romance worthy heroes and heroines. I liked that this story featured characters that were entwined with the locale - in this case Cara who is an island native with that Caribbean heritage in her blood. She's desperate to make the plantation into a heritage site, and Mick's arrival to claim it for his friend Will as part of his inheritance puts a definite damper on her plans, notwithstanding the attraction she feels for the handsome retired navy man looking for a new purpose in life. As they come to know each other, they develop a friendship that leads to more (and some steamy scenes between them as a result). The issue of whose land it is remains the conflict through the story, but the point when they individually realize how much the other person's future means to them is where their affection for each other makes them look for a compromise. I enjoyed meeting Cara's friends (and Mick's also), which hopefully means some great new stories on the way! 4.5 stars.

    Nice series of SEAL's!

4 1/2 STARS! Book 2 in the ASSIGNMENT: Caribbean Nights series is brought to us by Zoe York. She does a great job of connecting her readers with gruff former Navy SEAL, Mick Frasier who wants to be a big tough guy, but is really a sweetheart underneath it all. Mick was at a loss of what to do when an injury took away his SEAL career, so he's thankful to his former teammate Will Parry for giving him a job to do and a goal to work towards in his down time. Will inherited some property on the Caribbean island of Miralinda that they are going to remodel into a first class executive training facility. Will is tied up in the short term, so he has sent Mick on ahead to get started on the construction permits they are going to need. When he arrives, he finds work already happening on the house. Cara Levasseur believes the property was left to the the Historical Society of Miralinda, and is already working on a remodel. She is NOT happy to have her progress halted nor is she happy to be in trouble with her bosses when this project was supposed to keep her job safe. When the two face off and declare war on who can or can't work on the house, the sexual tension bouncing between them is at an all time high. When they find that they actually enjoy each other's company and don't wish the other ill will, can they develop a plan that can work for everyone? Will they be able to save their jobs, their plans and their hearts?
