    Love blooms amidst prejudice

Leilani Kealoha is a woman who wants to escape the high expectations of her family and the prejudice she has grown up with. Losing her mother at a young age she missed having her mom around for the guidance a girl needs. She is constantly breaking the rules set by the Hawaiian men in her family determined to keep her on a pedestal. She wants fun, excitement, adventure and something bigger and greater than the life she is living. In walks an East Coast surfer that could be the answer to all her dreams. If she has the courage to let him in. Mason Price has had enough of toeing the line for his socialite parents. He’s not the son they want and he never will be. Tired of playing the games his parents want him to play he sets out on his own quest to find himself. His journey leads him to the beautiful islands of Hawaii and the even more beautiful Leilani. A local girl with sass and grit that makes him want to put down roots. She is a challenge to him, she won’t fall at his feet and spill her secrets. She wants nothing from him like the other girls in his social circle back home looking to land a rich husband. She’s everything he can’t have but everything he wants to keep. Mace and Lani’s story was a slow burn. Sweet and innocent their love bloomed over time. It was pure magic to read how this unlikely couple became each other’s salvation. It is not an easy road for the couple with the prejudices they face within both their families. But their love for each other prevails and they are on their way to a beautiful happily ever after. Truly a modern-day Romeo and Juliet you will love these characters. As always Kat and Stone Bastion do a wonder job making you want to know these endearing people. I definitely recommend.

    Fresh and unique

Really loved this. It was fresh, unique, and completely entertaining. The relationship between Leilani Kealoha and Mason Price was a wonderful slow burn. Their relationship was faced with so many issues yet the couldn't resist the attraction between. They are two lost souls who find each other and help the other find their way. Mase has grown up with parents who have pushed him toward a life in the political arena. A life he wants no part of. Leilani has dealt with the over protectiveness of her family and wants to get away from the prejudices and expectations they have. Watching Leilani and Mase find their way was truly a thing of beauty. Definitely a book I recommend.

    Rule Breaker

Kat and Stone are two of my favorite authors. I read and review their books volunteering! This story was a bit different being set in Hawaii and around the world. I leave this story for the reader to decide if this is an adult book while choosing this book to read. Leilani is 19 and goes to find Mason on a small island to get Mase for a sponsor for her brother. They tease each other. He hires her to work for him and he leases a house to stay near her. I was surprised when Mase is always getting beat up by Lanl's brother. And I thought it was bad stateside! Mase detests his political parents who want him to help his father get elected. Spoiler. Lani meets Mase's friends and she runs back home because she is intimidated by Mase's mother. Spoiler. This one didn't make me go for tissues. But you may have to walk away every once in a while. I would recommend to read this book. PS there is a dictionary in the back. Enjoy your reading. You won't regret it!

Sexy novel with a wonderful message

Disclaimer: I received an eARC of this book. I chose to review it and this in no way impacts my opinion of it. I’m not going to lie, I picked up this book because 1) surfers are hot. 2) even though I’ve never been, I’m in love with Hawaii and 3) just look at that cover. I am glad to say that I was not disappointed in the least. This novel was sexy and exhilarating and it kept me wanting more right until the very end. I absolutely adored Mase and Leilani which is saying a lot for me because I usually have one or two things that irritate me about one or more characters in romance novels but Kat and Stone really hit the nail on the head with these two. I only had two teeny tiny issues with this novel. One was that Leilani was 19, but unless I missed it somehow, I still don’t know how old Mase was, and that bothered me because of how young Leilani was. I got over this quickly by just imagining him as only a year or two older. My other issue was that a couple times I found Mase using Hawaiian words that Lani hadn’t taught him yet, and it seemed like he shouldn’t have known these, but I guess he could have picked these up elsewhere. This novel also had a beautiful message behind it that I think everyone should read and actually take away from the novel. Read it, understand it, and instill it into your life and help make the world a better place. So besides those two tiny issues, I absolutely loved this novel and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious read with an absolutely wonderful message behind it.

    Really Good Story

I am very torn on this book. I love the way Kat and Stone Bastion write and I have read the majority of their books. After reading Heart Breaker I thought I would totally fall for this book but I really didn't. I have said that over the last couple of months I have been in a reading slump and nothing has interested me. This could be the reason for lack of feelings on this book. The story is really good. I have read that Hawaiians do not like outsiders and are territorial of their beaches. I can see why Mase had trouble in the beginning. I am not big on surfers so I am not necessarily a big fan of Mase. I did really like him. He has the whole lets make the best of what we have which I really like. Mase does seem a lot older than he is. Leilani is young and has been through some stuff. She is cautious and not wanting to have anything to do with Mase but she is drawn to him. She was not annoying to me but I also didn't really love her. She was very much an average girl to me which is a lot better than an over the top annoying or amazing girl. I did like the deeper messages that were in the book. As I said before, I liked the story but I was not in love with the characters. I do think that most people will enjoy this story. I am giving it 4.2 stars out of 5.
