  • An Epic Conclusion

Leigh Bardugo continues to spellbind with her incredible characters in a compelling and unique world The finally story in this duology has all the action, magic, and drama I've come to expect from her writing. The stakes and sacrifices required by the characters are mind-blowing. Each character is tasked with facing not only their new and old enemies, but their pasts as well. It made for some heart-wrenching moments, exciting scenes, and deep character growth. I adore Nikolai. Not only is he arguably the most fun character in the Grishaveres, he is more layered and complex than his charm makes him out to be. His heart is so big that I would eagerly root for him whenever he was faced with a challenge. Zoya's intense, bristling personality made her arc deeply engaging. The more I learned about her, the more I wanted her to succeed in her personal and professional deeds. Watching her come into her power and seeing where her character ended up made her all the more compelling. As for Nina, how can anyone not love her? Despite the challenges thrown her way, she focused and fought to free herself from her pain. While an aspect of her story went in a different direction than I expected, I found it to be a compatibility with her character's skills at adaption. There were tons of unique callbacks, not just in text but with surprise appearances. It definitely feels like this will be the last Grishaverse novel for a while, but there are definitely adventures that need to be had and evils to be faced. I truly hope more adventure will come! Many of the side-plots with new characters were dark and unexpected. Bardugo used her considerable talents to create intense scenes and throw shocking, sometimes devastating twists into the mix. I didn't know how some of the characters would escape their plots, but Grisha magic is not to be messed with. I don't think I need to comment on the detail placed into the world-building, because Bardugo has mastered it. Every place in her worlds feel lived in and fresh, making the reader feel like they're there in the heat of the action. A definite win for fans of political drama, war epics, incredible magic, and heart-twisting emotional and character stories. I loved this book and can't wait for more!

  • The story continues

Wow this sample may only contain three chapters but it definitely left me wanting to read more. Each chapter cleverly is the point of view of a different character so the reader is left to decide who is good , who is bad and who is possibly something in between ! Fans of the original Grisha stories will no doubt be clamouring for more as they will be desperate to discover what their favourite characters will get up to next. This voluntary take is of a sleek peek which I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

  • Gripping Continuation

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC sampler. Within a few chapters, we see war and intrigue stirring. The characterization is gripping, and so much is already at stake. Kingdoms! Love! Betrayal! Who will end up on top? I really can't guess. This promises to be an adventurous and thrilling book, and I'm excited to read more. If you're a fan of Leigh Bardugo, this something you're going to want to read.
