    Hot, Steamy, Raunchy

Just recently I realized that I actually like romance more than I thought. Erotica – no. Romance – yes. I happy agreed to review the new Harlequin DARE imprint and I was happy that books I received to review were labeled as contemporary romance. I picked Ruled to read due to the Motorcycles – I mean who doesn’t like a man on motorcycle? The story started out with more of a narration feel to me, like they were talking to me and telling me a story versus me reading a good. That feeling doesn’t seem as strong throughout the rest of the book – but it does still linger. I actually found the characters a little ridiculous because the instant chemistry was a little far-fetched and I just didn’t click with them the way I normally like to with characters. I did however love the alternating view points, I don’t think I’ve ever read a romance novel were it switched back and forth so flawlessly and in the perfect spots. There is no shortage of steamy, raunchy sex scenes. It actually feels like the book may have too many sex scenes and sex related scenes for me. Is that actually possible? It is a good smut novel – if you are into that stuff (I am not used to this sort of book). While I would label it ‘too hot’ for my personal preferences I am sure it is just right for others. I was all sorts of squirmy and uncomfortable trying to read this in the waiting room at my doctor’s office (Fun fact: I was also ten shades of red!). I did love the background story and how the main character, Eve, is a woman who fought to make her way in the world despite the environment she was raised in. She was a very strong female lead and even though she did one thing in the end that made me think ‘no, she would never’,I still felt like this was a good read and I will still be giving the second book in the series a go. Besides – there is one thing that I still have no clue how it’s going to turn out and I cannot wait to see how it unfolds and what impact it will have on Eve.

    MC Romance

Ruled by Anne Marsh Hard Riders #1 Eve Kent has a party business with a princess theme for the young fairytale crowd. Her father was in a motor cycle club and was taken to prison for years leaving Eve and her brother to their own devices. Eve’s brother “Rocker” has followed in his father’s footsteps and put his sister in danger. Stepping into her life comes another MC member from another club that needs to keep his eye on her. Rev is an ex-SEAL and one bad boy but with a good heart. Keeping Eve safe is Rev’s main focus but doing so and remaining true to his brothers in the club is not always easy. Rev and eve steam up the pages in this quick read introducing a new series. This is not nearly as dark and gritty as many MC books. Thank you to NetGalley, Barclay Publicity and Harlequin DARE for the ARC – This is my honest review. 3-4 Stars

Pairing the party princess and the MC enforcer

Pairing the party princess with the MC enforcer and I simply HAD to know what devious plot twist was going to make that work in the end. When all was said and done, it felt just like the natural progression to their story. Only a little nefarious plotting required. I loved that Evie was such a strong, fiercely independent woman, even if she does baby her brother too much. Rev is so dedicated to the people he considers his 'family' and he’ll do anything to protect them. This pair has so many obstacles they have to get past, and only some of them are their own making. I was pulled into the story from the very first words and couldn't put it down. This book also gives us a good introduction to several of the other club member of the Hard Riders and I am anxiously waiting for the next release so I can read more about them. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book.
