    Unlikable Characters

I'm always up for a good enemies to lovers romantic comedy, and having enjoyed this author's work before, I was excited to read Rumor Has It. The story does have all the elements for a potentially hilarious and romantic read, but it missed the mark for me. The wonderful thing about a bad boy in romance is that he meets that special someone who makes him want to be better, to be redeemed. Barrett comes across as so over the top sexist in his interactions with Catarina that I found myself asking why she would even bother to try. Then we have Catarina who is so reserved and stuffy, she seems unapproachable. They are enemies right from the start, and they're most certainly opposites. So much so that I couldn't believe a romance would blossom from this arrangement. Grated, Barrett and Catarina are forced together for the sake of an article, so it is a fake relationship from the start. The problem is it never felt like anything more to me. I assume that the over the top personalities were done that way for the comedic element, and while parts were amusing, neither character was particularly funny. In the end, it's just hard to root for and connect with unlikable characters, making this one a disappointment.

    Fantastic

Fantastic read that is sexy, flirty, and sassy. Wonderful characters that will have you laughing out loud with their witty banter. First there is Barrett. He's a former football player and while his pro career was cut short due to injury, his career as a broadcaster was even shorter thanks to a rant caught on air. He's cocky, arrogant, self assured and determined to get back on top. Then there is Catarina. She's a journalist. Very serious, slightly up tight, and determined not to fall for Barrett's charm. What starts as fake dating for the sake of an article suddenly begins to feel very very real. Don't miss this one, I highly recommend it.

    Delicious

Jessica Lemmon does a wonderful job writing a delicious story with great lines and unforgettable characters. I enjoyed every minute of this witty, flirty story filled with bantering and sarcastic remarks. This is the fourth book in the Real Love series and it is a standalone. Catarina loves her job as a reporter for the online newspaper, The Columbus Community Chat. However, she is not happy with her current assignment. Her boss wants her to go on six dates with Barrett Fox and than write about the experience. Catarina is beautiful, rigid and guarded and from the moment she meets Barrett, she hates his egotistical attitude and she doesn’t trust him. But as time goes on, Catarina starts to enjoy their time together. Catarina discovers Barrett has many layers and many good qualities. Barrett was a popular Ohio State football player who made it into the NFL, only to suffer a career ending injury. Barrett is trying to get back his sideline reporting job, so he agrees to write stories about dating a reporter. Barrett is gorgeous and used to getting any woman he wants. It surprises him when Catarina doesn’t immediately fall under his spell. He admires Catarina’s spunk and enjoys making inappropriate remarks just to rile her. I enjoyed reading about Catarina and Barrett. They bicker, banter and drive each other crazy as they fall in love. Even though they are total opposites, they somehow click. I love everything about Barrett. He is a smooth talker and sweet and vulnerable behind his arrogant attitude. This is a fun, sweet and sexy story.

    Rumor Has It

What took me so long to read this one! Barrett Fox is a former football pro turned sportscaster who had a really bad mishap on the field with a female referee and now he is relegated to working as a journalist and along with Catarina. She is a professional and being saddled with fake dates with this bad boy turns her life upside down. These two are perfect! They complement each other. The banter is witty and the push-pull is just right. Oh, I just wish I had not waited so long to get to this one! Definitely a recommendation from me! **Received this ARC for review from the publisher via NetGalley**

    plenty of fun

Rumor Has It is sweet, fun, and a little bit naughty. It got just enough push and pull to keep you entertained. The Bad Boy former NFL player and the journalist with the stick up her butt...yeah, it's fun. Fake dates for the win. These two needed to get out of their own heads to find what they were missing.
