  • Rohan and Payson

Ronan, a CIA agent injured in the line of duty, is medically discharged and finally goes home to his family after 9 years. He has trouble readjusting to normal life after being gone for so long and is also suffering from PTSD. His mother finds him a job helping out with some remodeling at a local antique store. Losing her parents and not wanting to be stuck in the same town as her sisters, Payson opens her own shop in the small town of Seaview. When her best friends mother mentions her son is returning home after an unfortunate train accident, she recommends him to Payson to help her out at the store. As time goes on, they get to know each other however Payson’s a bit stand-offish when it comes to being in another relationship. That is until she’s invited to join the family on a short getaway. Payson begins to suspect there’s more to Ronan’s story than a train accident. When she finds out the truth, she is scared he’ll have to leave again. Her nightmare becomes reality when she wakes one morning to find a note that Ronan has left but has no idea when & if he will return. Although I didn’t get to read the first book, I didn’t feel like there were any missing pieces. This can definitely be read as a stand-alone. I really enjoyed this story. It had a bit of everything, drama, suspense and of course romance. I thought Payson handled Ronan’s PTSD quite well and was able to help calm him. I was intrigued from beginning to end, which hasn’t happened in a while. Believable and well written characters. This is a must read book.
