    Savannah Martin Mysteries

I've now read books 1-6 and am looking forward to reading the rest. It's unusual for an author to competently mix genres, especially when one of them is murder mysteries, but Jenna Bennett has found a formula that did it. The principal characters are well defined and appropriately sympathetic. Savannah's conflicting emotions, as her "Southern belle" upbringing and increasing enjoyment in being her own person pull her in opposing directions, are very well articulated, as are the sometimes conflicting facets of her relationships with her family and others in Sweetwater and those in Nashville. Savannah's sleuthing is far more adept than that of most protagonists in "light" fiction, and the mysteries themselves aren't no-brainers, even to longtime readers of high-quality crime fiction. There are few plot giveaways, the books are long enough and there is enough tension to make for late-night page-turning. All in all, a really good series!!

    Still hanging in

I love the story lines and characters HOWEVER I'd like to believe that by book 6 were not just starting the series and need to have where she grew up and details that have been repeated since book one continued to be spelled out again and again. It's frustrating and rather irritating. I shouldn't be able to skip full pages as often as I did because I'd already read the same thing said a different way a dozen times. Maybe in future books/series you'll take that into consideration?
