    Raw, but not as gripping

It’s never a good thing to feel apathetic about characters, and for much of Scandalous Beat, that’s precisely how I felt. In fact, I think the main reason I was drawn to Juaquin and Miriam story was because I’ve so enjoyed the Tempest series and now the characters through the other books. For me, what always set this series apart from other rock band romances were the gritty storylines and rough-edged characters. Though that was present in Scandalous Beat, it didn’t feel as pervasive as the others in the series. I certainly wasn’t as hooked as I normally am to Miss Mankin’s books, at least until the action and climax kicked well past the halfway point. I really liked the idea of the forbidden love, with Juaquin lusting after his bandmate’s little sister. I also liked the two together. They knew each other so well and seemed very in tune and supportive. While there was no denying the depth of feelings they held for one another or the physical chemistry, I wasn’t captivated by this couple like I have been with others from the series, which is a shame because I’ve so been looking forward to this final book of the series. That said, I always like how this author recovers her characters after they face difficult circumstances. They’re never weak-spirited men or women, but ones who battle back despite any odds facing them. In that way, Scandalous Beat did the Tempest series proud. While this book didn’t work as well for me as others, this is still a series I’d recommend to any reader looking for a little more raw emotion and storylines to their rock romances. *eARC provided by PA. FLove

Flove this book. King and Miriam's story sucks you in and takes you on an emotional roller coaster. My heart was torn to pieces for what Miriam went through. I love how King put her back together and how he stayed by her side when she needed it the most. This book is well worth the read. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Love will always come back to find you

Love will always come back to find you even when you think it is long gone. Juaquin and Miriam grew up together in Seattle's Southside and moved away. Juaquin is in Vegas to record his solo rap album when he sees Queen Miriam at a strip club. She has been his dream for years and nothing will stop even band loyalty to her brother. Lots of secrets are revealed on both sides as this always destined couple try to get their happily ever after. Mankin writes with emotional depth as you get invested in the couple and their issues from the begging. Lots of good plot twists along with seeing past couples from the Tempest and Black Cat Records.

Amazing story, very emotional and heart warming. One of the best books I have read this year.

    Gimme Latino!

I adore rockstar novels and I love it when a book has Hispanic characters. The story itself was fantastic. The author's writing was amazing. I was not familiar with this series before, but it definitely made me want to go back and enjoy the previous books as well. So good! ***This is a voluntary review. I was privileged to enjoy an advance copy.***
