  • A Fantastic Addition to the Creepy Hollow Series

Beth must embrace her powers or be controlled by them in Rachel Morgan's Scarlett. This story is a companion tale for Morgan's Creepy Hollow series and tells how the character Scarlett came into her magical powers. What I loved most about this book is Beth's transformation into Scarlett. In the beginning, she's terrified of what her awakening powers can do and ostracized for it, even from her own kind, but she finds a way to embrace herself. The repetition of "I am independent. I am strong. I am powerful." speaks to Scarlett, and those three simple sentences hold power we can believe in. If you are a fan of the Creepy Hollow series or young adult paranormal books, then you won't want to miss out on reading Scarlett by Rachel Morgan.

  • I have no words

Again, Rachel Morgan got me out of my reading slump. Or at least my reading slump took a break when she announced Scarlett - A Creepy Hollow Story. I got exited like a little kid on Christmas morning, bought the book and read it in one go. It took me quiet a while to realize who Scarlett was and which role she had played in the previous books. I was 70% into the book when I realized this. But man did I enjoy this book. It calmed me a little while waiting for book 6 in the Creepy Hollow series and at the same time it made me even more exited about continuing this series. This spin-off story was short, quick and easy to read. It really gave my so much more sympathy for Scarlett as a character that I really disliked before. I'm really curious about what she'll be doing in book 6, because Rachel Morgan has already announced that she'd have importance in this book.

  • Another win for Rachel and Creepy Hollow

As always, Rachel's writing did not disappoint. Scarlett is a perfect addition to the Creepy Hollow world. I loved her journey and it was especially fun to read the back story of one of the more questionable characters. I also loved that Rachel was able to make me feel empathy and compassion for someone that didn't do what I wanted her to do. That's just good writing. Another win for Rachel Morgan. P. S. if Scarlett is your first dip into the Creepy Hollow world, then make sure to read the others. They are such fun fantasy books.

  • Great!

Loved the quick read. It was good to get the background on Elizabeth and how she learned Witch magic... a betterr understanding of her character.

  • Is she or isn't she?

Scarlett is a short story that provides background information on one of the minor characters from Rachel Morgan's Creepy Hollow series. Scarlett is a good choice as her character is difficult to gauge. What side is she on? Does she have a side? Initially, one might think she is evil. Yet, later on Scarlett's actions bring this conclusion into question. If you have read the Creepy Hollow series so far (Book 1-6: Violet's sort and Calla's story), this tale will explain a few things and enhance your understanding. Definitely worth the read.
