    excellent writing

Annabel annoyed me a bit with her outright snobbery about wanting a man with a title, despite the fact that her situation was desperate and she should've been perhaps a bit less discerning. However, this hesitancy just made Simon's serious interest in her that much more satisfying to read.

Liked it more the second time around!

Secrets of a Summer Night by Lisa Kleypas (Audio Edition) Narrated by Rosalyn Landor Series: Wallflowers, Book 1 4 stars - I think I enjoyed this more this time than I did the first time I read it. I love when the girls play rounders. I enjoyed how Simon already knew what he wanted and set out about getting it. I think Annabelle was a strong woman and a good match for Simon. Rosalyn Landor did a fantastic job on narration. Looking forward to listening to the rest of the series.

    Never Underestimate a Wallflower!

I have just reread my collection of The Wall Flowers by Lisa Kleypas. I was upset at first with Annabelle for clinging to old rules of conduct and for her snobbery in spite of her family's financial situation. Her faithfulness to her fellow Wallflowers was endearing as they worked at finding husbands for themselves. Her love match with Simon Hunt became an ideal sought by the others. In Book 2, Lillian is an unabashed American who excels at provoking Lord Westcliff. The results of the "Rounders" game by the Wallflowers was amusing and a second game continued the clash between them. In Book 3, "Evie" seeks her own salvation by propositioning the rake Lord St. Vincent who kidnapped Lillian in a desperate bid to gain a wealthy wife. Evie's strength of character despite her shyness, wins over husband. He is committed to protecting her from her abusive family. This series, including the arranged marriage of the youngest Wallflower, Daisy, is completed by " A Wallflower Christmas", a lovely story where Lillian and Daisy plot to marry their brother to a woman of their choice. Of course, she is another Wallflower!
