Best Book I've Read for A Very Long Time

Iain King's first novel is astonishly brilliant. Best book I've read for a very long time. The story is not so much about Nazis, more really the cold war and modern times, but with lots of interesting history. The dead Nazi's main secret (there are two secrets - one big, one small) is the focos of an international team's hunt across Europe, and it is amazing. There are lots of details about the secret at the back of the book, which are fascinating. Includes a great American called 'Glenn'. Great book.

Second half is best ever written, but a slow start

The first half of this book deserves about 3-and-a-half out of 5. If I had stopped reading there (when the team in the story leave for Vienna) that is what I would have given it. But then it starts to take off, the pace quickens, and by two-thirds I really couldn't put it down. I wanted more when it was over. And the ending is so, so clever. It's a pity about the start, but if I could give the second half seven out of five, I would. It really is the best second half of a book I've ever read.

    Should be Movie

Great characters, great storyline, fascinating content and a wonderful triple-whammy of surprises at the end. This book really should be made into a movie.

    Superb Page-turner - Couldn't Put it Down!

A very compelling story, very well written, with great characters and a thrilling, super-fast plot. Comparisons with Dan Brown are deserved (although this is better in some ways). Really had me hooked. I agree that it should be a film - it is the ultimate cinematic story. Did I believe the main secret? Not completely, but it is plausible, and the conspiracy cover-up is very plausible (I know the thing about Reagan is true...). Time will tell whether it is proved to be true.

    Great story, amazing research

This book is something else. Not just a great story with great characters, but the research, and the 'big secret' that the dead Nazi was keeping from 1945, is just amazing. Still trying to work out how much is fiction and how much is real. I think the first 'predictions' in the book come true in December 2015.
