  • Thorough, Enlightening, Engaging, Exhaustive

Scholarly, yet practical. Research and interpretative descriptions of all element of emptiness are all thorough, deliberate, and illuminating. Burbea's writing voice is authentic, serious, and committed to the project of making the elusive, usually mystifying concept of emptiness, intelligible and accessible. The reading can get rather dense, sometimes esoteric or meandering, but this is broken up brilliantly with many instructive, step-by-step practices to experiment with. This treatise on Buddhist conceptions of emptiness might leave a beginner a bit dazed, but doubtless would add depth and breadth to the library of an intermediate or advanced practitioner.
