  • Keeps you guessing how it will be resolved

This author seems to be a new one but her style is very solid: Although this is a romantic suspense, the suspense aspect is well-researched and detailed and profound, and the romance aspect is intriguing and has deep emotional resonance. Serendipity in Berkeley is a great read; I couldn't tear my eyes away from it. The mystery/suspense builds quickly and the romantic hero/heroine Sam and Alex have intense chemistry that arises from the beginning. The mystery has quite a few twists and keeps you guessing throughout the book, and intertwines with the romantic element to generate the inevitable tension before all is resolved. Excellent character development - I can imagine each of the characters come to life sitting across from me in a local coffee shop or in the settings in the story. The supporting characters are developed well and have the beginnings of their own stories; luckily this book is one of a series so I can look forward to seeing how they develop. I particularly like the Jason character and his 'tude, especially when he plays the "bad cop" while interrogating a suspect. I highly recommend this book.

    Thanks for your feedback!
