    Loved it

Wow! This book was so much more than I was expecting. Wonderfully written with a story that truly blew me away. Reagan is a strong woman and keeping her dead husbands secrets seems like the right thing to do. Alex has always felt the guilt of his attraction to his best friends wife and now that his friend is dead it really hits him hard. But maybe, some things are just meant to be..... Great read and I highly recommend it!

    Shattered by the past

Reagan Sanders and Alex McCray have been hot for one another for years. Alex is feeling like he wants to take a chance with Reagan, only to remind himself that her former husband died saving him. Reagan is trying to start over after a miserable marriage and is being looked down upon for not grieving louder and longer. Alex and Reagan cannot stop the chemistry that pulls them together. Their attraction is very strong and you feel it from the very first page. They both have things from the past that are coming back to haunt them, and their relationship is too new to maybe weather the secrets that are just now coming to light. Alex has a lot of guilt about the promises he made to his buddy. Reagan just wants to create the future she was robbed of in her former relationship. She has been hurt quote a bit both physically and emotionally and it makes it hard for them to compromise. Reagan has just one good friend it seems. Unless you count Alex. Can they share love enough to one another to override the hurts of the past? Is love enough? Can you get rid of guilt if you love hard enough? This story is very moving and sincere. My only issue with it was the very meek and wounded heroine that just needed to toughen up. I know that sounds harsh, but I just felt glimpses from her character as I was reading that there will soon be hell to pay. ***This ARC copy was given free from Netgalley.com and its publisher for review purposes. Super sexy!!!

Drew and Reagan were married and Alex was Drew's best friend. Little did Alex know that every time Reagan glanced at him a little too long, Drew beat her for it and for other reasons as well. No one would believe that their deceased hometown hero, who earned a Purple Heart for saving Alex's life, beat his wife. Alex wouldn't believe it. When things get heated between Alex and Reagan, will the guilt Alex feels for sleeping with his deceased best friends wife, put a stop to their ultra steamy affair? What a fantastic story. Super sexy Alex McCray is one hot Marine. His sense of honor is admirable and I love the reminder he gave Don and his friends about death before dishonor. I am definitely a fan of Tori St. Clair and her amazing writing style. I can't wait to read more from her. Received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

    sexy and emotional story

This emotional romance is the story of Alex and Reagan. Alex's best friend Drew died saving his life and when he comes to check on Drew's widow Reagan, he can't help the strong feelings he has for her even though the guilty feelings are equally as strong. But somehow, Reagan's not reacting to Drew's death the way he expected and the town doesn't seem to be offering her the support he would expect for a war widow. As his feelings for Reagan deepen, will he be able to face the truth about his best friend? There was a lot of tension and drama in this story as we meet Reagan and learn about her less than perfect marriage. Reagan is in a difficult position, in a town that idolizes her military hero husband without knowing the truth about his abusive patterns of behavior. Finally having the freedom to do what she wants with her life, she is still left in a tough position financially but is determined to do things on her own. It was a bit difficult to understand how she could stay in this town, though ostensibly it's the love she has for her job that keeps her in a place that obviously does not support her (though the presence of her neighbour and best friend Desi is also a factor in her staying). I felt a lot of empathy for her and her situation, though I also wish that she had not kept silent about the truth of her marriage. Alex also has a difficult time of it, feeling a combination of survivor guilt and the guilt over desiring his best friend's widow. I thought there was somewhat of an excess of that sentiment throughout the story - his guilt over the whole situation was a constant refrain. However I did enjoy the relationship between Alex and Reagan as they give in to the attraction between them and the love scenes between them were steamy and touching. I wish that the communication between them had been better from the start and that Reagan had confessed her secrets to Alex sooner instead of letting things go for so long. As in any relationship, communication is key to happiness so theirs was a long time coming. Overall it was a solid story, with some sexy scenes and ultimately an entertaining read and a satisfactory happy ending. 3.5 stars.

    An important subject matter.

Shatter Me by Tori St. Claire was an okay read for me. This story dealt with two very important subject matters that are faced within our daily society-spousal abuse and loss. Loved the concept but the execution could have been better. I thought that the story stalled after the first chapter. Although the characters ware likable enough, I didn't really feel any chemistry. Good but not great. I received an Arc of this story for an honest review.
