    Ex RBS employee

An excellent well researched piece of journalism. This may be a bit too detailed for the general reader but for those that were involved in the financial sector over those troubled years it is a must read. For an ex RBS employees like me it captures the culture that lead to the downfall perfectly. Fred was a dictator. We all knew that but somehow everyone wanted to believe in him. The bully subordinates but flatter and support your boss no matter how ineffective culture was prevalent until I left in 2011 by which time it was clear that Hester was ineffective. Books like this are really effective in helping learn from mistakes of the past.
