  • An enjoyable read.

Simply Sinful the first in Ms Phillips reissued Simply Series was an enjoyable read. That nicely mixed mystery and romance to great effect and had likable characters. And I was wholly engaged throughout. Would recommend. **Copy provided via BookSprout in exchange for honest review**

  • Good start to this series!

Simply Sinful is the first book in the reissued Simply series and it is a quick and enjoyable read. Kayla Luck has inherited the family business when her aunt and uncle pass away and she is looking forward to running the etiquette school. Before she knows it, Kane McDermott shows up to sign up for a class and the two end up going to dinner. What Kayla doesn't realize is that Kane is a detective and his assignment is to determine if the etiquette school is a front for an escort service. Things heat up between Kayla and Kane which is not going to help his case. When Kayla is the victim of a near kidnapping, Kane's profession comes to light and it become obvious that Kane wasn't up front with her. As he stays with her to keep her safe, they also try to figure out what has been going on with the business. Will these two be able to make something work or will the traumas they have both endured throughout their lives cause too much trouble? This was a good start to this series and it kept me engaged from the very beginning. I look forward to Kayla's sister, Catherine's book next.

  • Great reread

The rerelease is as good as the first read. Kayla Luck is built like a blonde bombshell who everyone underestimates and when in fact she is smart and savvy business women who ends up taking over her family’s etiquette business. When there is a tip to the police department that the etiquette company is a front for a prostitution ring, Detective Kane McDermott is sent to investigate and be undercover. After setting up a “date”, and getting to know each other Kane realizes that Kayla wouldn’t and doesn’t run a prostitution ring. But they really hit it off and when Kayla comes in to danger Kane is called. Can they learn to trust each other. This was a great read and I could not put it down for the second time. Carly Phillips never disappoints.

  • A tempting dance of duty & desire

I thought that this was a very enjoyable read. I found it really easy to like and feel for Kayla and Kane. The obvious attraction and sparks between them quickly had me rooting for these two in the tempting dance of duty and desire they were locked in. The story grabbed and held my attention well and the blend of romance, suspense, drama and heat delivered more than enough feels to keep this reader happy. This is my freely posted frank review

  • Two Lost Souls Find Love

When Kayla Luck's Aunt Charlene passes away, she leaves Charmed!, her etiquette school for businessmen to her. While Kayla has some ideas to bring the business into the modern era she never imagined what mess she would find herself in. Detective Kane McDermott knows he has to find out if Charmed! is on the up and up after receiving an anonymous tip, but he never excepted the jolt he received when he first touched Kayla's hand. While trying to pretend to be in need of etiquette lessons, Kane quickly realizes that will not work and instead gets Kayla to agree to going out to dinner with him which turns into a hot night together. Kane is drawn to how smart Kayla is as well as her curvy figure. The next day when Kayla heads to work, she is attacked and the attacker is looking for "the books". When the police show up, imagine Kayla's surprise when Kane shows up and she realizes he lied to her. Kane has quickly developed feelings for Kayla and insists he stays with her to make sure she is safe. The more time these two spend together, the more obvious their feelings are but because of things from Kane's past he will not take things to the next step. Just as the mystery of "the books" gets solved, Kane must decide if he is ready to let go of the past so he can have a future with Kayla. It will take a lot of looking deep inside himself but eventually Kane comes to realize that what he needs for a happy ending is Kayla. I really enjoyed Kayla. Being very smart and very curvy is something I can really relate to. I loved how she handled things. I also really liked Kane. He was all alpha male but deep down was a soft teddy bear. I really enjoyed their happy ending. It was fun rereading this series that has been updated to more modern times.
