    Thanks for your feedback!

    A very beautifully written book

This is at once a history of a great English country house and the farm surroundng it, a family memoir of a remarkable family, and an account of the author's love of a place, a landscape, and his desire to reconnect the two things. When he wrote this book he was trying to revive the farm around Sissinghurst so that he could offer organically grown lunches to tens of thousands of the yearly visitors to his grandmother's garden. A check of Wikipedia suggests that he succeeded, but the book is complete without your knowing that. WELL worth reading for the language alone. And the author's passion for a world where people are stewards of the land to which they are connected shines through.
