    Gripping

I had never heard of Mur Laffety and purchased Six Wakes on a whim. It wound up being the best sci-fi read I have enjoyed all year. I heartily recommend it.

Clue the movie on a spaceship

But minus the jokes. No matter how hard Hiro tries. If you liked the sample, the rest of the book will hold your interest. Even with the flashbacks scattered throughout, the pacing stays steady. Character development is good and as you learn about the crew, their story and their personalities, your feelings of like and disgust fluctuate. My only qualm is with the technology at times. A good portion of it feels early 21st century even though the time period is from the 23rd to 25th century. I don't hold this against the writer. When world building, you have to choose your battles. To focus on every possible aspect of a possible world would grind the story to halt and the story you want to tell will never be told. This story is focused on cloning and asked a lot of questions about what this would mean to different people. It isn't a subject that I've given a lot of thought too. This book poses some interesting questions, and I'm happy I won't be around when that time comes to answer them.

    Six Wakes

This was a good, fast-paced suspense in space novel. Touches on some great ideas (what is a person) told through interesting characters. Having said that it read like a script for a movie - the pacing meant that the book lacks texture and depth with characters that felt like reasonable facsimiles of people - I wanted more.

Good book, Good Story flow. Satisfying to read!

This book is really good. Start with a huge punch that hooked me so much. All the character get's his spot light in the series. The writing as a really nice flow to it. The most important part of any book is the ending, It was really satisfying

    Good space mystery ...

I think this is a good mysteey set in a spaceship with some insights into how the sense of self might be continued among one or more people. Reminded me a little bit of Kiln People.
