    Dark story left me disappointed

I started out thinking that Slammer was going to be a dark romance. It is set in a maximum security prison. Lyla is a young nurse and Christopher (aka X) is serving life sentences for gruesome murders. There is a lot of brutality and violence involved in the story. I liked how the story moved along. I felt the author gave a good foundation for an intriguing story. Also, the author was able to make X a sympathetic character in a very difficult environment. I felt empathy for Lyla but never really understood why she fell so hard for X. However, I had a lot of problems with the story. There were so many things were going on that the ending seemed thrown together and did not really feel resolved. Also, please be warned that there is no HEA. As I was reading, I found myself wondering how the author was going to pull this out and make it a HEA, but it did not happen. The major reveal of X felt off to me. I wanted more from this book, but feeling a little disappointed. Slammer was an overall OK read but please do not expect a happy ending

Holy moly and all things that go bump in the night

Holy moly! And all things that go bump in the night! I have been jonesing to read this book. It is everything that I hoped for and more. Teasers don't do it justice. The blurb on the back is just the tip of the iceberg. I am speechless and struck dumb by the author's story. Holy hell! The sex is hot, spicy and panty dripping wet. The violence is spot on how I would imagine a maximum security prison to be. X and Lyla are the tortured couple that you root for and scream at the book for them to get their chance. This book is a very fast read. You will NOT be able to put it down. You will be sucked in and you will feel everything that I have tried to explain here and more. Much more. Warning - this is not a book for the faint of heart. There are moments that you can't "unsee". But trust me, if you can and do read this book, it will totally rock your world.
