  • Great Sports Romance

I loved this book! It has all the feels, happy, sad, anger, love. I haven’t read the first book in this series, but you can bet I’ll be reading it very soon. I absolutely loved Brooks. He’s sweet, caring, supportive and an all-around awesome guy. What’s not to love about him. Michelle is prickly, sassy, sarcastic and foul mouth and I loved her too. She was the perfect complement to Brooks sweet side and they're ridiculously hot together. If you loved sports romance, or sarcastic leading ladies or hot sweet baseball players then this book is for you. It’s hot and sweat and sometimes funny. There isn’t a whole lot of talk of baseball so frankly it would appeal to the non-sports loving people too. I really hope Brigs gets his story soon. Michelle doesn’t trust many people and for good reason. Man, that woman never got a break growing up. She has a nightmare of a family. She doesn’t do relationships, only hookups with no feelings involved so when she started to have feelings for Brooks two years ago, she slammed the door in his face and refused to see him again. After getting a glimpse into why Michelle doesn’t do relationships you come to understand her more. He childhood was completely messed up. The complete shutout messed Brooks up since he was falling for Michelle. Now they’ve come face to face again. Brooks has just been traded to a new team and one of his new teammates is marrying Michelle’s best friend, Fiona. Fiona and Gideon’s story is book one of this series, Evening the Score. Now Brooks sees this meeting as a second chance with Michelle. He’s hoping that he can convince her to give a relationship with him a try. Can he convince Michelle the commitment-phobe to give them a chance? What happens when Michelle’s family comes into the picture again? • Sweet romance with some humor

Entertaining story with some fun, sweet romantic moments; plus, some hotness! I didn’t really connect with the characters though; especially Michelle, I thought she was a bit of a butt. Just her whole vibe was off for me; probably her hot and cold demeanor, she annoyed me a lot. Baseball player Brooks and want to be nurse Michelle had a quick, passionate romance 2 years ago, but Michelle ran scared; she doesn’t do commitment. She has issues and is so touchy, but there’s some stuff in her past. They end up meeting again; the passion is still there between them, but she continues to push Brooks away. Brooks isn’t having it. Brooks is a total sweetie! I didn’t quite feel their connection and I wasn’t loving their banter, but they’re cute. Overall, an interesting story, but the character’s actions just seemed a bit typical to me; not quite surprising. I’d say a 3.5 rating; rounded up because the story is well-written.

  • Off the charts chemistry

The very first Jaqueline Snowe book I ever read was Evening The Score. I adored Fiona and Gideon and all of their friends and was so sad when I finished the book, I just wasn’t ready for their story to end. Imagine my surprise when I realized that Sliding Home was the second book in this series. I was absolutely ecstatic and so happy to see that the characters in Evening the Score also appear in Sliding Home! To experience the renewal of a relationship between Fiona’s best friend, Michelle, and Gideon’s teammate, Brooks, was just amazing. Their chemistry is off the charts and these two just belong together. I can honestly say that the second book is as good as the first and I fell a little bit in love with Brooks and Michelle. Now, I really, really need Brigs story.....

  • Good

This was my first read from this author. I loved the dual first person point of view of Michelle and Brooks. This is always a deal breaker for me. The characters had believable chemistry, which is also important. I will read more from this author in the future. This was a good read. I would have liked it more if I liked Michelle. I couldn’t stand her. I get she has issues but her hot and cold attitude gave me whiplash. Brooks was sweet and he deserved better than Michelle.
