So I Married A Sorcerer by Kerrelyn Sparks

So I Married a Sorcerer by Kerrelyn Sparks It's one of those "overly dramatic stories" (a direct quote about the heroine's written stories) that makes this an outstanding adventure. I absolutely loved this fantasy, pirate, lost-kingdom romance. This is the 2nd in The Embraced series and it's best read after the 1st. In this book, Rupert the pirate, is actually a prince determined to win back his throne by honorable means. Kind of. He is an honorable man. He wants the best for the lands and it's people. And he will use his Embraced magic to help him even while it prevents his enemies from being hurt. The heroine was brought up in a convent where her Embraced powers didn't make her a target for death. When she leaves the convent to visit her adopted sister, she is kidnapped by pirate Rupert where yes, they fall in love. Brigitta and Rupert are overly dramatic and wonderfully entertaining. Fallon and Stefan's instant attraction made me laugh out loud a couple of times. I received a copy of this book from NetGalley. I have also purchased a copy to gift.

    Loved this!

I loved this book! I enjoyed the first book in the series, How to Tame a Beast in Seven Days, so I was really excited to start reading this book. This book was just as good as I had hoped it would be. Once I started reading it, I didn't want to put it down and ended up reading almost the entire novel in a single day. I didn't want it to end because I was having such a good time getting lost in this magical world. This really was a joy to read. Brigitta and her sisters from the Isle of Moon are on their way to be with Luciana. During their travels, their boat becomes a target and Brigitta learns that she is actually a princess. She ends up on Rupert's pirate ship along with a nun to act as her protector. Rupert is a pirate and is known as a sorcerer. He has the power to control the wind which turns out to be rather handy while at sea. I really liked Brigitta and Rupert together. They just clicked right from the start. They had a lot of things in common and just seemed to connect with each other and had a lot of chemistry. Their relationship did move pretty fast but it worked with in the context of the story. I loved that Brigitta and Rupert had equally exciting backgrounds and I wanted to keep learning more about each of them. This book was incredibly exciting to read. There were a lot of scenes that were just filled with action. I loved how Brigitta and Rupert's special abilities were described in this story. I wouldn't have imagined how exciting the power to control the wind could really turn out to be. This book really does a little bit of everything with some really funny moments worked into the story and a pretty entertaining secondary romance. I would highly recommend this book to fans of paranormal romance. While I do think it is possible to read this book as a stand alone novel, I think this series is best enjoyed in order. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book in this delightfully entertaining series. I received an advance reader edition of this book from St. Martin's Press.

    Very Exciting

Brigitta has been brought up on the Isle of the Moons with a group of other orphaned girls. They are all "Embraced" that means they have a special power. This has in the past has meant a death sentence. One of the girls recently married and became a queen, and is about to give birth. Now all her adopted sisters are traveling to see her. Unfortunately someone has discovered Brigitta's real identity and that puts all of them in danger. Rupert is a pirate and a wind sorcerer. He has been raiding the ships of a particular king for years. His goal is vengeance for the murder of his family. Only his most trusted men know his true identity. If he can capture Brigitta he can ransom her and destroy her brother. This is a lovely long book with action all the way through. We get magic, political intrigue and romance. A hero with very unusual powers that are more dangerous than we might expect. A heroine who nobody can hide anything from, but is incredibly innocent. Some of the secondary characters, especially the nun and the shifter are lots of fun, and bring us more than a few giggles. I have read both books in the series so far, but you could read this on it's own. I'm really looking forward to reading the rest. I loved every page.

'So I Married a Sorcerer' by Kerrelyn Sparks is Book Two in "The Embraced" Series. This is the story of Brigitta and Rupert. Brigitta along with some other young girls were brought to the Isle of Moon when they were very young. This was their save haven from trouble that was looking to find them. They all became 'Sisters' and lived at the Convent of the Two Moons. Now in their present day they are traveling aboard a ship to visit with their 'Sister" Queen Luciana who found her happy ending and now is about to give birth. Along with the sister traveling with them is Mother Ginessa. Brigitta is unsettled by a predication that her and her sister found out about in the Telling Stones they created. It tells that Brigitta will meet seven suitors in eight months and it revolved around the Royal Colors of Tourin. Well the time frame is here and Brigitta is worried for her future. When the ship they are on is stopped buy the Royal Navy Guards of Tourin Brigitta knows something is wrong. When confronting Mother Ginessa...she finally tells her that She/Brigitta is a Royal Princess of Tourin. And that her half brother Gunther is looking for her. We learn that Gunther is not a good person and that he killed the Brigitta younger brother and rightful Heir to become the King. Rupert spies on Gunther and learned that he was looking for his sister that everyone thought was dead. Now Rupert to is looking for her and he arrives at the ship about the same time as Gunther's men. But Rupert is looking for revenge and Brigitta is the key. Rupert met Brigitta before when she was a baby and even then she had a calming effect on him which appears she still effects him. I loved the first book in this series and this book didn't disappoint either! I truly enjoyed their story and hope to read more in this series soon. I am so curious about each sister and their stories. "My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read."
