    A fab read

This book twisted my insides in the most delicious of ways. I was honestly blown away by the story arc and the style of writing. The author Ruby Speechley has chosen the most gray areas of medicine and law, blended them smoothly, added bucketful of suspense and trepidation to give me a story which hooked me from beginning to end. SURROGACY!! Charlotte wanted to do a good deed and help a couple have a child of their own by optioning to be a surrogate mother. She chose a couple in their 40s unable to have one after multiple miscarriages as the intended parents. She bonded with her twins in utero and didn't want to give them UP. Something kept twining in her as the days went by. After a lot of life threatening medical events, she did hand the children over to the couple, and THEY DISAPPEARED. Then began the most exciting of stories with some scary revelations. Ruby Speechley in her debut has knocked this one out of the part. I couldn't remember ever being so excited by a book. Short, snappy chapters made the book read faster. The rising panic in each made my heart thud faster. I literally became one with the book, glued to my kindle. Nothing could break my bond with this book. And the emotions... Oh the emotions... Each chapter showed me what Charlotte felt. She was such an easy character to love. No good deed goes unpunished, so it is said. And Charlotte experienced the full brunt of it. There were times I had to move away from the book, which in this case meant close my eyes, as I couldn't move away from the story. Why, what, how kept me in a constant spate of turmoil. The delicious roiling in my innards and the painful thudding of my heart made this the most awesome of my reads. And kudos to the author for finding the most thrilling of subjects - SURROGACY

    Wowza Debut!

Ruby Speechley's debut is a fast paced, roller coaster ride through surrogacy and all the right and wrong things about it. It does a good job of presenting the differing reasons and views of others who may choose to judge. The Prologue will grab you and the story intensifies as it goes on. Well done!

    Incredibly moving, powerful, and emotional

Wow! Such an incredible book! If you're wondering whether or not you should read Someone Else's Baby, stop thinking, and Do It! I am so glad I did! There are so many great things to say about this story, I don't even know where to start. Speechley takes a real-life issue and brings it to life in a way that's so emotional and real that I felt like I was part of Charlotte's journey through this entire ordeal. As a woman who's suffered a stillbirth and miscarriages and truly considered surrogacy for a time, this story took me on a roller coaster of a ride. I hated when I had to put the story down in order to work or whatever. When I wasn't reading it, I was thinking about reading it. And now that I've finished it, I'm still thinking about it! I say Kudos to the author for doing such an amazing job!

    A Stunning Debut

Wow what a debut! This is a first class psychological thriller that will have you dropping everything. I am still blown away that this is Ruby’s debut novel. There are very few books from a first time author that keep me engaged right from the get go wanting more and more. I felt a connection with the story and with Ruby’s writing straight away. I definitely had a book hangover after I finished this one! The plot of the book is very compelling and an intriguing one. The subject of surrogacy is extremely well researched and this story shows the darker side to it which is not something that we often hear about. It is not a subject that I have actively read up on, so Ruby does a great job in also educating the reader at the same time. The characters have been brought to life on the page beautifully, even the unlikable ones and they are all very well written and developed. A great job has been done in making you feel what the characters are going through, at each point in the story, from elation to utmost fear and panic as the story progresses. The standout character for me was definitely Charlotte. A selfless woman helping a couple unable to have children fulfil their dream. It made me think about the women that do this in the real world and they should be commended. It would take a very special person to be able to do this. I loved the effortless style of writing, where Ruby kept me enthralled throughout with short snappy chapters that kept the pace of the book flowing, which makes this an easy and enjoyable read. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time reading this. Ruby has created a unique story that I throughly enjoyed and which I highly recommend. I look forward to reading more of Ruby’s work and I will wait impatiently for the release of her next book! As I have seen other’s say and which I completely agree with, is that Ruby is definitely an author to watch out for and she is a rising star in the psychological thriller genre. Thank-you to NetGalley, Hera Books and Ruby Speechley for allowing me to read an advance copy of Someone Else’s Baby, which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

    No surprises

I enjoyed reading this book, but it was obvious almost from the start what the ending was going to be.
