Great prequel to get you hooked for the whole saga

Summary: When a god falls in love with a mortal woman, their children are godlings (half god, half mortal). When Helga one of the godling's decides to make a play for power. She will sacrifice her brother Caerwyn, her sister Alfreda and her other sister Artio. Does her plan work? Did Caerwyn name a successor? Is Mordecai ready for the magic that hums in his veins? Characters: Caerwyn: King of Cathair protector of souls, and a godling. Alfreda: sister to Caerwyn, and protector of mythical creatures and a godling. Artio: Looks for the best in everything, and everyone, wants to heal the sick and wounded. Sister to Alfreda and Caerwyn and a godling. Helga, does not like her sisters and brother or mortals. Wants power to control everything. Sister to Caerwyn, Alfreda, Artio. Hud, manservant to Caerywn, father to Mordecai. Mordecai, young wizard. He is very important to the future of Cathair. Keeper of the balance box. Genii, son of Calleigh(very powerful individual) Final Thoughts: Soul Survivor is a great prequel to Spirit Shield Saga. I am really excited to see what becomes of Mordecai now he is the Royal Spirit Shield. I hope Helga does not get away with everything she has done.

A must-read prequel to the Spirit Shield Saga!

I loved this prequel to the Spirit Shield Saga. The characters are so real and the story flows naturally. Every epic story has a history, and this prequel sets up the series beautifully. Lust for power and a battle for control upsets the balance of the world and meddles in the lives of humans, especially when the battle is between the offspring of the gods. Things look bleak, but there may still be a chance to resolve the conflict. But things will get much darker before they get better.

    Awesome Beginning!

An unusual and enticing beginning to what promises to be an amazing fantasy adventure. I enjoyed reading from the viewpoint of a god. The characters are well developed and likable...except for Helga. Evil wench. I am looking forward to reading more from Susan Faw! I highly recommend this book.

This book did what a prequel is supp

This is both a new series and a new author, but the kindle blurb was interesting so I figured it was worth a try. I'm glad I did. Susan Faw has created a fascinating world with a neat magic system and an immortal godling family feud that could totally mess up the lives of mortals. I'm not sure what's coming next, but this book did what a prequel is supposed to do: got me interested enough that I definitely want to find out. Definitely recommended.
