  • LOVED IT!!!!!

I loved this book. It was the first I've read by Angie Fox and I am now a fan of her work. This book grabbed me from the very first page and kept me engaged to the very end. When it ended, I was sorry and am already looking forward to her next book. The lead character, Verity, is flawed but very likeable. She has become the town trash after leaving her fiance at the alter. Of course, there is more to the story, but the town doesn't care about the details. Through a comedy of errors, she is thrown together with her ex fiance's brother. This leads to lots of awkwardness as they attempt to deal with a ghost/poltergist problem. And along the way, if they can solve a murder and figure out who's trying to kill them, so much the better. This is a wonderful book and I cannot recommend it highly enough. If you like paranormal mysteries, you will love it. Thank you to Netgalley for providing a complementary ARC in exchange for an honest review.

  • Ghosts and Murder, Oh, My!

Imagine: you walk away from the wrong man at the alter, and then everything in your life goes from golden to ARGH!!! Verity is broke and owes money. The only thing she has is her Grandmother’s home, which she is determined to save. She’s desperate. Desperate enough to accept not just communicating with a ghost, but trying out his solutions to her money problems! Going with the ghost leads from comedy to murder, and one hunky man who might be Mr. Right, maybe? I hope. I really resented anything that interruptedd reading Southern Spirits. (Thankfully no one was on fire or bleeding.) And then I was sad when I finished the book and left Verity and her world. Fingers crossed that Ms. Fox will write a sequel!!! Like yesterday?

  • Funny, Sassy and Spirited.

Funny, Sassy and Spirited. Verity is cute, smart and sassy. But she (through no fault of her own) has her whole town looking down on her. Nasty Ex-boyfriend – Tasty Deputy Sheriff – Snarky Gangster Ghost – and a Spooky Uprising of Spirits (and not the drinking kind.) The story is entertaining and reads well. Moves quickly and keeps your interest. Portions of the story are a bit predictable but that is to be expected within this genre. No spoilers here – but I fell in love with Frankie, the Gangster Ghost. He is funny, full of himself, overconfident and very snarky. He made me laugh from the first line. The very tall and tasty deputy Ellis is also handsome and confident in himself – right up until he (doesn’t) see a ghost. Things go bump in the night and not all of them are the ghosts

  • Wonderful start to a new mystery series

This is an excellent story featuring a heroine with a tarnished reputation, a sleazy ex-fiance, his older brother--the cop, and a prohibition era ghost, to name just a few. It is at times sad, funny, scary, thrilling, hilarious, and action-packed. The mystery will keep you turning pages to the end and leave you wanting more, and the heroine will have you cheering her on as she tries to get her life back on track after her disaster of a relationship. If you like a good mystery and aren't afraid of a ghost or two, you will truly enjoy Southern Spirits.

  • A great beginning to an enticing new series!

*I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.* ------------------------------------------- Wow! Great book! Can't wait to read more in this series! From Verity's spunk (and unusual pet) to Ellis's down-to-earth attitude this story grabs you from the start and makes you want to keep reading. I can normally tell you "who-dun-it" long before the end of the story, and this one took me by surprise!
