Curved & Panties For the Win

Aidan Knight, Bash Prince's bestie, and recently recruited co-bastard at Magnificent Bastard Consulting, could not be more different than his friend. This tall, tattooed drink of water is the guy guaranteed to strike fear into the heart of exes everywhere in his quest to right romantic wrongs. When Cat Jones, Aidan's college friend, shows up looking for his help in getting rid of a dangerous boyfriend, he's ready to bow out faster than you can say 'conflict of interest.' Before too long, though, he's all in, and over his head... With as much love as I have for MAGNIFICENT BASTARD, it was pretty much a given that Aidan would have his own place in my heart. I mean, there's plenty of room there for Lili Valente's guys, and I'd already met and was intrigued by Aidan. Hot, tall, tatted, bearded, what wasn't to love? And, after all, he'd already proved his mettle by showing his, erm, assets in MB, so, yeah, color me a fan. Whereas MB was a quirky, lighthearted romp of a story, there's a little bit of a darker edge to SPECTACULAR RASCAL. Because, wise guys. And there is no better guy for the job of freeing Cat from the clutches of her crazy ex than Aidan. He's invested in all the best ways, caring, loyal, and smart, and, yeah, sexy as all get-out. Cat is just as hardcore as Aidan in her own way. She's definitely got baggage, but has managed to rise above it. She can more than hold her own, and is the perfect foil for Aidan. Reading the letters exchanged between Cat and Aidan back in their college days had me laughing out loud (I mean, really, how could I not love banter between people nicknamed Curved For Her Pleasure and Polka Dot Panties?!), and it is clear even then that these two would find their way back to each other. Lili has managed to win me over yet again (no surprise, really) with this book. Besides the swoony Aidan and kickbutt Cat, seeing Bash and Penny again, along with Shane, Aidan's folks, and the inestimable Fifi, SPECTACULAR RASCAL is a story that goes right up there on my list of favorites. 5+ sweet, sassy, spectacular stars for this one. Ya done good, lady.

    Clever, witty & hysterical!

Such a clever, witty & funny story! Part of the Magnificent Bastard series but can be read as a standalone. Aiden Knight is best friend with Sebastian Prince who runs the Magnificent Bastard, MB Consulting, dedicated to help women get even. Aiden joins his company to help him raise some funds for his studio. His first assignment, unbeknownst to him, is with a woman named Beth Jones, aka Catherine (Cat) Jones, the woman he walked away from after college eleven years ago. He never forgot her. The job was to help Beth get rid of her mafia boyfriend ends up being a second chance for Aiden & Cat. The characters seem real, their quirky, they struggle, make mistakes & drunk texts, nothing is more real than drunk texting. LOL Fall in love with Aiden & Cat & hopefully the author can give us some more of them with Bash & Penny all working together on an assignment.

    Often funny, but...

I thought the characters were great and I really liked the banter between them. It was often very funny. What I didn't like was the actual story, as it was predictable and has a seriousness that I thought didn't quite fit with the humour of the rest. I did not, really did not like the last chapter. As cheesy as it gets.

Be still my heart - 5+++++ stars

A Review of Spectacular Rascal by Lili Valente Be still my heart - 5+++++ stars I knew from the previous book in this series that I was going to like Aidan's story. I really appreciated that his story picked up where we last saw him — doing the streak through Prospect Park to get the cops off of Bash and Penny, so they could get away. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know more about the friendship that Bash and Aidan have, going back to elementary school. I also got a huge kick out of the nicknames Aidan and Cat had when they were part of the Dashers club in college. I do find it kinda funny that they never knew each others real names for over two years, but it's not completely unbelievable. There were lots of twists and turns in the story, enough to keep me on the edge of my seat at times and a few times that brought me to tears, but this is one of those stories that you will want to read over and over again, just for the feelings it invokes. I certainly hope this is not the last we hear from The Magnificent Bastard Consulting crew. I absolutely love the style of these books and how the author is telling these stories. **Complimentary Copy provided by Author for an honest review.**

Lili Valente has done it again!

Once again, Lili Valente has written a magnificently entertaining story filled with humor, passion and a bit of suspense proving her grand ability to draw me into the lives of her characters and becoming one with their universe. Spectacular Rascal returns us to world created in Ms. Valente’s novel, Magnificent Bastard, but this time reintroducing us to Aiden whom we met before. Though Aiden’s passion it running his tattoo business, his best friend and owner of Magnificent Bastard Consulting, has convinced him to work for him as well. But unlike Bash’s smooth, gorgeous businessman persona, Aiden is the complete opposite. His “bad boy” look comes complete with a beard and tattoo sleeves covering each arm. This façade is perfect for the hard-to-get-rid of ex’s, you know the ones that just don’t seem to get the hint that it’s over. But despite his gruff and tough-guy exterior, Aiden has the heart of a giant teddy bear. When he meets his new client, Cat, the memories of 11 years ago come flooding back. Aiden is determined to turn her away because of the potential conflict of interest; that is until he meets her ex who just happens to be in the mob and is about as scary and creepy as they come and clearly is not going to take Cat’s no for an answer. In spite of his hesitation, Aiden begins to feel a protectiveness for Cat and recognizes how much she needs his help. As they begin to spend more time together, their relationship moves beyond and simple business arrangement. When the connection from the past again resurfaces, it makes it nearly impossible for him to walk away. And as Cat remembers their past as well, she also wants more from Aiden. Will Aiden be able to keep Cat safe from her ex, and will they find comfort and love in each other’s arms, the kind of love which is meant to last a lifetime? Aiden is such a sweetheart making me absolutely swoon over and over again, and his “dirty talk” with Cat is oh-so-sexy. Cat is a bit on the crazy side which I must admit makes me love her as well and believe me when I say she can deliver the “dirty talk” as well as she can take it. The banter between these characters is hysterical making me chuckle and laugh out loud. Lili Valente at one point even breaks the fourth wall talking directly to the reader which is absolutely fantastic (not to mention the creatively amusing epilogue). I just couldn’t stop giggling it was so much fun. Spectacular Rascal is definitely a must, must read. If you haven’t given Lili Valente a chance in the past, this is certainly a great place to start. She has an absolutely undeniable knack for combining comedy with hot, sexy passion with elements of suspense and danger that will keep you coming back for more, more, more!
