    Love this book!

I can't tell you how many times I would have given anything to be told "You have magic"!! That is what happens to Lexie! I am so jealous! Lexie finds this out the day before her 15th birthday. Getting told this out of the blue and to have a million questions with no answers makes for an interesting story. Typical teen rebellion happens! This was a fun book, Lexie is just frustrated, her aunt and sister are no help at all. Then she meets a Gavin who is willing to help her. But is he really helping her? That said, a lot of chaos happens - we are talking about a teen after all! As usual, there is something about S. Usher Evans books that just suck me in and I don't stop until I reach the end of the book!!! Looking forward to more adventures with Lexie!!!

    A great novel

What I Liked: 1) I really liked the magic in this book. 2) I loved the struggle Lexie had with controlling her powers. 3) How helpful Gavon was and the mystery surrounding him. What I Didn't Like: 1) How Lexie's aunt and sister seemed to want to keep her in the dark when it came to her magic. 2) Honestly, I've never been so frustrated with people before. 3) Lexie doesn't always make the smartest choices and it could be a bit annoying, but really, did any of us at that age? Overall it was a really cute novel and I enjoyed it. If you enjoy novels about teens coming into their magic, this is one you should check out!

    A Magical Journey!

I found it very easy to go back to days when you feel so ordinary, but you know something exciting was going to happen. When Lexie receives her magic, without any preparation. It’s easy to see how a seemingly level headed Lexie would react with anger. All the emotions and insecurity comes out as anger, which was dangerous for her bedroom. Thank god for Gavan letting her get her aggression out safely, and duelling with her. This is a wonderful opening book for the series, with so much going on. The first half was much slower. I think it set the scene with the members of her family and home life. Lexie felt very alone and unwanted at times. Let’s face it finding out your so powerful, and, you have trouble controlling your magic. It’s only when Lexi can controls her state of mind, can Lexi control her magic. I loved the way Salem witch trials, was introduced into the history of the different magic users. All in all I enjoyed it, and will be buying number two to find out what happens next. I received a copy of this book for an honest review.

A great start to a new series

After DNFing this book at first, I knew I’d eventually go back and give it another shot. It just wasn’t the right time for me to read it. I’m glad I brought it with me on my trip though because it’s one of those easy to read books that fit with all my running around. I like Lexie. I feel like she could be a younger me. Yes she’s immature and doesn’t think things through. Name me a teenager that does. I’ll wait. She fits the book perfectly and that’s all that really matters. Her family though. Oh man. They drove me insane. I hated how in the dark even we were as readers let alone Lexie herself. Their reasoning made no sense to me and I hated not having any idea what was going on. Sure I had my guesses but I needed a confirmation at some points. The plot was fun and went by really quick. I like being able to read a book fast like I did with this one. No unnecessary drama thankfully. This book didn’t need fillers and side plots. It stood just fine on its own.
