    historical romance

Stealing the Rogue’s Heart by Erica Monroe The Rookery Rogues Series #4 Quick easy read of a romance set in the rookeries of England in 1833. Mina is the wealthy sister of two brothers running one of three gangs in the city. At 19 Mina seems naïve with little knowledge of where the family money is coming from. When her older brother decides to marry her to someone old that will further their business she makes the decision to nix that idea, convince the man she loves in a rival gang to marry her and take her away. The storyline is predictable and the story short with a HEA to look forward to at the end. I am curious about Mina’s brother Cyrus and do hope he and Jane get together just as Mina and Charlie did. Thank you to NetGalley and Quillfire Publishing for the ARC. This is my honest review. 3 Stars

Different from your usual historical romance

I received this book as an ARC. I have not read any of her other books and found this one a little hard to get into. Saying that it is a different concept to the usual historical romance as it is set in the rookeries and not with the Ton. I enjoyed the emotion she displayed with the characters and their struggle coming from two very different economic classes, the lady being rich and the man with nothing to his name. If you are looking for something different but still historical I would certainly give this one a try. I know I will be reading more of hers.

    The Power of Love!

What a wonderful book by Ms. Monroe. The setting for this book is a Pub where Charlie Thatcher, a member of the Chapman Thieves, is a lifelong friend of Mina Mason, sister to a wealthy and powerful crime lord. Charlie is protective of Mina when she comes to visit but feels she can never be his. My heart hurt for both of them. They are both good and kind, yet controlled by others that ignore their feelings and desires. They agreed that nothing should keep them apart and each one vows to do whatever it takes to be together. This can be read as a stand-alone but it's even better if you have read the others in the series. I received an ARC of this book. The choice to read and review it was all mine.

    True Love

Ms. Monroe has written another great story. Mina and Charlie have been friends since childhood. The fact that their families are rival gangs has never mattered to them. Mina likes going into Chapman territory to visit him and sit at the bar admiring him. Charlie enjoys seeing her and it allows him to keep an eye on her and to keep her safe. One night this is all destroyed by the actions on another and it sets in motion a call for gang loyalty. These two must determine how much they mean to one another and to their family/gang. This is a can't miss story and has a happy ending. I received a gifted copy from the author in exchange for a honest review.
