    Too forgiving

While I found this book interesting in the information it provided and its insightinto Mr Harper's character, I thought that the author was very forgiving with respect to Mr, Harper's more negative character traits and ultra partisan decisions, He glosses over the prime minister irrational hatred of those who do not agree with him as though this were merely a quirk. All in all, I was disappointed in this book, which ultimately comes across as an apology for Mr. Harper. I also question the timing of the book's release and the effect it will have on the upcoming election.

Must Read for Students of Politics

This is one of the finest books I have read on Canadian politics - a must read for students of politics. Very thorough, based on many interviews, and fair and balanced - the good, the bad, and the ugly! There are many smart insights - a learned a lot! Well worth the read!

    Wow!

Ibbitson earns a place among the great chriniclers of history with this work. His care for his subject is evident throughout. Even with a figure as polarizing as the Forner Primw Minister often is, Ibbitson takes great care to make him three dimensional in a way that is just likely to irritate bot those who adnire and oppose him. He has captured the essence of history: nuance.

    Harper

Very revealing biography of an inteligent and inspiring Canadian leader who led our nation very capably during the difficult ecomonic crisis . His sucessor will have very large shoes to fill. .

    Excellent Read!

I would say that, to date, this is the most accurate and well-written portrayal of Stephen Harper and his rise to power. Well done!
