    Engaging Christian Mystery!

Strands of Truth is a Christian mystery novel by bestselling author, Colleen Coble. Harper Taylor and Annabelle Rice both submit DNA in a search for potential family members and find that they are half sisters. Strangely enough their mothers both died under suspicious circumstances when they were babies, without revealing the name of their shared father. Oliver Jackson is Harper’s mentor and business partner. He is attacked while on a dive with Harper. Oliver’s son, Ridge, isn’t especially fond of Harper but joins forces with her to figure out who attacked his father and why. What is it about Harper’s past that’s bringing danger now? Are the emotions developing between Ridge and Harper real or just a result of the constant contact they’re in because of their investigation? Strands of Truth is an interesting read. Part of the backstory is revealed through flashbacks from the viewpoint of Lisa Taylor and Judy Russo, Harper’s and Annabelle’s mothers, respectively. The flashbacks are handled with dated headers, so there is no confusion. Scenery is also used effectively. The plot is engaging and holds the reader’s attention. Christian themes are melded seamlessly into the characters’ thoughts, actions and dialogue. They’re presented naturally and unobtrusively. Giving and receiving grace, especially God’s grace is a special theme. Overall I enjoyed this novel and rate it 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it to readers who enjoy a good mystery, especially with Christian themes. My thanks to Thomas Nelson — FICTION and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book. However, the opinions expressed in this review are 100% mine and mine alone.

    Exciting Page-turner!

I awaited Colleen Coble's new novel, Strands of Truth, with eager anticipation and my patience was definitely rewarded—as I found myself totally immersed in the oceanic world of manatees, mollusks, and murder! Coble is so proficient at descriptive imagery that I felt at one with this beautiful setting, and could actually feel the warm sand between my toes and see the foamy waves crashing against the shore! I love a book that challenges me and teaches me things I wasn't aware of—mollusks and other sea treasures perhaps containing neurological and antibiotic uses? Who knew? Harper is a wonderful heroine...intelligent and compassionate, but with plenty of baggage from her childhood. She wouldn't be the main character in a book without that! lol Ridge has his own issues, but as handsome and chivalrous as he is...who really cares? ;-) I felt the romantic chemistry between the two was somewhat lacking, but I find that often in suspense novels. I was thrilled that I didn't guess who-dun-it (because I normally do), but the perpetrator caught me totally off guard. Way to go, Ms. Coble! The only reason I couldn't give it five stars is because some dastardly deeds by a certain character seemed rather far-fetched in my opinion. Without further ado, I highly recommend putting 'Strands of Truth' on your must-be-read list! *I received a complimentary copy of this novel from Thomas Nelson publishing via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion. All opinions expressed are my own.*

Hard to beat romance and suspense story

Strands of Truth is another thrilling winner from author Colleen Coble. Having read a few other books by Coble, I was looking forward to reading this one and was not disappointed. Romance and suspense are a hard combination to beat. There is lots of action with some twists and turns in this multi-layered story where past murders are connected to the present dangers. It was hard to put the book down. Who would think that doing a DNA test could lead to danger and even death? Harper longed for a family--to be where someone loved her no matter what. Ridge doesn't quite trust Harper and yet knows she needs his help. Would they find who was targeting her before it was too late? And would they perhaps find love too? Strong characters, a fast-moving plot that kept me guessing to the end and a sweet romance all come together to make this a book readers who love romantic suspense stories will not want to miss. I received a complimentary copy of this book via CelebrateLit. A favorable review was not required and opinions are my own. This review is part of a CelebrateLit blog tour.

    What will the truth reveal?

‘Past sins have a way of affecting the present!’ Have you ever considered what testing your DNA might bring into your life? Growing up in the foster system, Harper Taylor thought she had no blood family. Was it possible she might find some family that way? Oliver Jackson, a wealthy businessman, had become her benefactor when she was just 15, setting her up to become a well-educated woman. Perhaps now was the time to see if her ancestry held any clues. The author has given us a page-turner that practically flies through a 30 year span. The twists and turns keep you wondering how murder, abduction, sea silk and pen shells will bring conclusions to the many questions being asked. The wonderful detail found me almost smelling the water and feeling the sand between my toes. I enjoyed learning a little about bivalve mollusks and their harvest. Perhaps the best part was observing Harper as she learns to believe that she is deserving of God’s grace as well as the realization that she could create her own family among friends! You don't want to miss this incredible story. I received an ARC through NetGalley, Thomas Nelson and CelebrateLit. My 5 star rating was not solicited. All impressions and opinions are my own.

STRANDS..OF TRUTH. Colleen Coble Harper wanted a family, someone of her own to love. A friend gives her a gift, of a DNA test, could she have a sister. and with that trouble follows. They was a lot going on, with pen shells, working with Ridge. He thought she was after money, while he was trying to please his father. This seemed confusing at times, of how it was played out.Overall another good mystery by the author..Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion by Net Galley and Thomas
